Hmmm...
"You've obviously had a lot of experience of this then..? "
err, no. I have driven two ex-colleagues 911's and liked both immensely.
A close friend was thinking of buying the Lotus so hired one for a long weekend and immediately decided that it was more suited to the track & was not viable as a weekend car, let alone an 'everyday' car. He ended up buying a Lotus 7 track car.
Quite why forum members need to make snide one-liner remarks is beyond me - this forum is about cars, and I and most other members of this forum express our views on cars without the need to have a thinly veiled dig at others posts & opinions.
Lets agree to disagree eh, or am I missing something ?
M.
I was referring to your comment about the Lotus' rather than the 911.
Your comment,
IMO the Lotus is basically a track car which is road legal, and as a road car it's way to harsh a ride and "stripped" for everyday use
just sounded like you were reading from a magazine. It's what everyone says who has never driven one or owned one for any amount of time, especially nampby pamby journo's.
I drove an Exige for two years as my everyday car, and yes, it's a little sportier than most, but it was fine. I think you'll find a 911 is as comfy inside as a BMW 5 series, it's fast yes, and handles very well, but it doesn't feel that sporty to me, I think an older air-cooled one would be lighter, louder, and be a much more rewarding experience to drive.
Lotus' are not designed for the Boxster demographic, they are for people who want more from their driving experience, and yes that means it's a bit harsher, but that doesn't mean it has to be on a track.
Goodbye car...
