Topic: Who the H... does CBC think they are?

Aparently CBC is planning on dropping the 40 year old theme to Hockey Night in Canada.
So if you heard it during last night's sixth game, that could be the last time you hear it on CBC.
I grew up with that little jingle, and listening to it just now sent chills down my back. 
And now CBC, in their infinite wisdom, feel it's time to move in a "new direction"
Well, I for one feel that CBC can move right on out of here and let someone like TSN take over a whole lot more NHL broadcasts,  HNIC "anthem" included.

That theme, for many of us, really defines who we are. Saturday night and that theme missing won't be the same. I really hope CBC gets to keep it.

500 bucks is less than it costs to dryclean Don Cherry's slipcovers, I mean jackets.

There are some things you just shouldn't mess with.  I do like the version recorded by The Shuffle Demons, though.

CBC is a corporation looking to keep costs down. 

There will always be people unhappy with change.  In time there will be acceptance of the change.   At least that what they teach in the change management course.

I watched the final round on NBC. The CBC needs to turf Bob Cole and get with the times.  Don Cherry is a buffoon which overshadows his hockey knowledge.

P.S. He was right about Crosby who dove early in his career and now he will pay the price. I miss good old hockey without the instigator rule….u touch da speedy guy…. I killa you.

$500 per broadcast does not seem that high to me considering Don Cherry's  $600K (I think) contract plus some of the other expenses.

Although some of the numbers are not being disclosed, maybe they are demanding much higher.

Jim Houghson will be doing the big Saturday night games all next season, as well as the playoffs in the #1 broadcaster spot, replacing Cole.  As much as I find Jim Houghson to be annoying as hell and not actually call the game (just talk to his colour guy conversationally about crap), he's an upgrade on Cole, who at one point in the final game on Wednesday thought Hossa was Crosby, and Crosby had already gone to the bench with a hurt vagina leg after a hit in the corner.  Please Cole, retire.

Sometimes I wonder if Bob Cole is calling a different game than what is being broadcasted  BTW, Greg Millen should be shot. I like the Jim Houghson and Craig Simpson combo as they're both knowledgeable and well spoken  Don Cherry? He could retire and not be sorely missed. Ron McLean is a keeper too. Hell, I like the Kelly Hrudey & Scott Oake combo too.
