Q Car
« on: June 05, 2008, 06:06:18 pm »
If you were to buy and modify a Q Car (i.e. a sleeper, something that looks relatively standard but has been tweaked to be much quicker than standard), what car would you buy and what would you do to it?

Me, I'd get a old Datsun 240Z, and stick an RB26DETT in there...

 ;D

I thought about that, but would want to keep it Nissan.  What about you RR, I'm sure you can come up with something with ridiculous power..?

How about a "K" car with the Caliber SRT powertrain in there? :rofl2:

I saw a beautiful 1952 Chev at the Waterdown car show a few weeks ago (it was parked next to me). How about the Z06 Corvette powerplant with a full suspension upgrade and 4 wheel disc brakes?

Then you could go with 16"x9" custom Chevy Rallye knockoffs with the flat caps, painted black or body colour and some nice performance rubber.

If you kept the exhaust quiet no one would ever know you have about 600hp under the hood! :D

There's a guy in the States that has shoehorned the entire drivetrain from a 2000 Corvette into a 96 Civic hatchback.  Definitely a worthy Q Car...  :D

As for me, I've always thought it would be fun to turn a 96-00 Civic hatch into a mid-engine, RWD sports car using an S2000 engine and a big supercharger.  An STI-powered, AWD Civic would be fun, too...

A Corvette powertrain in the passenger compartment of a Chrysler minivan... complete with shortened rear drive so the wheels wouldn't stick out and a complete new suspension system up front.

Years ( decades ) ago someone did this with a F1 powertrain in a Renault Espace ( the ur-minvan)

Well..I'm a pretty big fan of 2JZ-GTE power.  An old Corolla with one would be sweet.  A Datsun 510 with one somehow stuffed in would be cool.

I'd really like an S2000 with one though......

A guy at the local Subaru dealer has an RX7 with a Chevy 350 in it.  Me, I'd probably just get a Legacy wagon, and put the twin turbo in it.
My diesel car self-identifies as an electric vehicle.

Volkswagen Jetta R GT, minus the 2 Fast 2 Furious wheels (though otherwise I like the aesthetic tweaks):

Twin-turbo VR6 (3.2L V6 with an unusually-narrow 15 degree V angle) making 600 horsepower, Haldex AWD.

I've seen the car before, I didn't know it makes 600hp though.... I'll be damned...

Something along the lines of Stacey David's Copperhead.  Need more cool trucks on the road.
