Not to hijack the thread - what bonehead decided to put the drive wheels up front in the first place?
It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature.  :P

You bought a FWD car...
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

Guilty as charged - at the time, there were no affordable RWD new vehicles on the road that could haul the family - I wanted to get a pickup, but couldn't convince the SO.
Must admit, even for a FWD, it's a blast to drive.   8)

The designer of the Cord  L29  motor car,  Andre Citroen for another and then Alec Issigonis restarted the whole thing with the mini.
The most radical revolutionary will become a conservative the day after the revolution.

Hmm, learn something new everyday!

Not to say that FWD is bad - it has it's merits, but IMHO, when it comes to power, it belongs in the back.  Thankfully that way of thinking is coming full circle for performance coupes/sedans.

It never went away for performance cars.    BMW, M-B, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini.
The Mustang, Corvette, Camaro.
Rx7/8  Mr2  Supra,     Lotus.   Countless small production brit sports cars.

It is a marvellous thing that tire manufacturers have done over the years to make FWD cars as good as they are.

Too true - there have been a number of attempts to make a FWD car perform like the RWD real deals as you've noted above - it seems that the front wheels when asked to steer and put lots of power down to the pavement can't manage to do both very well.
My 2 cents.

FWD has its limitations as a performance car. When manufactures design torque steer mitigation by retarding power output to the front wheels depending on a number of factors it defeats the purpose of performance IMHO.

Hmm.... 2010 eh? I might be ready to try something different. But 2010 should be the intro of the 16x!  :-*

For some reason I think 2010 model year may be a new set of emission or economy controls.

:-\ It's been rumoured before with previous generations of the Miata and never arrived but here it is again.

I almost bought a Kia Spectra GSX when I was shopping for a car in the summer of 2005.  One of the Kia dealers had 2004 one hanging around, but it was a 5-speed and I was looking for abn auto.  They were trying to get rid of it and were only asking about $15,000...

I drove the 2005 new body style, didn't like it, and it was smaller than the '04 (same as the '02)
Plus I like 'em even more as they are fewer on the road.  8)

There was a Miata/MX5 based coupe but it never arrived in NA, a shame really...
