VW used to advertise  TO to Thunder Bay on one tank did they not for the 90 bhp TDI. Whatever that works out to.

Better than advertised?  Is it just a regular stock 2009?

when are the japanese going to wake up and bring their deisel engines?

After they start losing sales to all of the other diesel options out there.  ;)

when are the japanese going to wake up and bring their deisel engines?

At the Paris Motor Show next month, Mazda will be showing off its new 2.2L MZR-CD clean diesel engine that will be installed in the Mazda 6. The new engine is rated at 182 hp and yields 42 mpg (U.S.). The new diesel will go on sale in Europe in 2009 before a gradual rollout to markets worldwide, Mazda says. Not sure if N.A is part of the worldwide markets.

Nissan Motor Co. plans to launch the country's (Japan) first clean-running diesel SUV (X-Trail I think) this fall and plans to introduce a clean-diesel version of its popular Nissan Maxima passenger car in the USA in 2010.

Market leaders Honda Motor Co.(2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine will likely first be seen in the new Acura TSX sedan in 2009 as a 2010 model, and Toyota Motor Corp( V8 engines available in its Tundra and Sequoia models in the near future) are also developing their own clean diesel technology.
