The previous Golf used to come from Brazil. I guess VW has switched the Rabbit and now they come from Germany?

AFAIK

Jetta - Mexico
Rabbit/GTI - Germany

Don't think VW produces anything for NA in Japan. ??? :P

The 6AT with tiptroic is from Aisin.  :run:

But the DSGs    6at with Sensetronic(?)   are from germany

Have 09 TDI Highline ordered in Edmonton they say late august early september before its in is anyone hearing any different?

They're on schedule for that timeframe... September.

Congrats. I've been eyeing one myself, tho the Pana Roof in the Wagon steals quite a bit of headroom.

if there had been a German built GOLF V diesel with HIDS and stuff ( i.e GTI spec  including DSG  but with the new diesel) I would have bought one instead on the GTI.     Just for the sheer joy of only filling the fuel tank once a month.

Thats the one.   I'd be happy with the NA certified diesel ( 140bhp) .   One could just add a Powerbox.

Finally had a chance to test drive the 09 Jetta TDI sedan Friday, honestly it is a very nice car fun to drive.  Actually couldnt beleive the power that this car has.   Easily leave rubber from start with the DSG didnt really get a MPG reading as I was just out briefly and was hammering it the whole time.  Cant wait to get mine!!!!

Apparently some saleable units have started shipping from port now.

Full details and write-up when you get yours!

Have my Sedan ordered for a while now nearly 2 months I think.  Drove my wifes 07 Ford escape 6500 km's to her.  Thinking that when I got back my TDI would be nearly ready for pick up, the first or second week in September.  Emailed them yesterday this is what I got............

At this point, I haven't received any TDI cars for delivery yet. All orders are submitted & some are pulled for production. My sales manager had a conference call to with Volkswagen Canada just before the weekend about the issue. VW Canada admits that production isn't catching up to demand causing a 3-4 weeks delay in delivery of the Jetta sedan TDI, & 5-6 weeks delayed in the production of the Jetta wagon TDI. This is mainly because supplies for parts for the new TDI engine are behind. They admit that VW didn't anticipate for the Jetta TDI to be this high in demand.

I apologize on behalf of Volkswagen Canada for the delay in delivering your ordered Jetta TDI. All Volkswagen dealers are pushing VW for the ordered cars causing the increase in shifts in the factory. I will keep you updated. The next status update will be in 3 weeks.

So I guess there were none made before now, none available for delivery???

If they are being delivered in the US why are we delayed in Canada?  They told me that there were only 12,000 for canada in 09 model year...Also said that they didnt anticipate the demand to be so high, but with a certain number available how did that affect demand? If you have 12000 to be made you have 12000 so make 12000?  Make sense?  If they were actually going to make that many shouldnt they have the engine parts readily available?   Poor planning?

Some are being delivered in Canada for sure. I just saw one last night (white with beige leather and auto). I can find out when he got it since I know the owner, but I think he got it in the past few days.

I won't be able to confirm the exact day until Sunday night since I'm gone for few days, but now that I thought about it, it must be yesterday (Wed) or the day before (Tue) since last weekend he was still driving his Rondo I believe.

That was a Sedan right?  In Ontario?  Wonder why my dealer says 3-4 weeks? In Edmonton?   You sure it was 2009?
