My new Altima is rated 34 city / 45 Highway, today I got 39 combined.  My speeds are 90 on secondary roads and 115 on 4 lane highways. Needless to say I`m extremely pleased and it may get better as it only has 2000km.  I truly believe the CVT has everything to do with this, and it`s so dam smooth and quiet.

when did you switch over? did you post pics, detalis? c'mon you can't deprive us of our fundamental right.  ;D

The 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Clean Diesel, on sale this fall, is
designed to run on today’s low sulphur diesel, and will offer fuel economy figures as low as 4.8 L/100 KM and will produce fewer emissions. The TDI Clean Diesel models are also designed to run on B5 bio-diesel.

That's great but what does that have to do with a Jetta TDI?  Is it to compare fuel economy?  Just remember that you are quoting the Canadian test cycle using Imperial gallons. Under the new EPA test procedure and US gallons your Altima is rated at 23/31 mpg.

Has anyone driven one yet? I plan on doing so this week.

Last time I sat in the SportWagen the Pana Roof (roof is a requirement for me) restricted headroom, but will try Comfortline vs Highline seats to see if either has more height adjustability to just fit me.

Been reading reviews and EVERYONE is raving about how quiet the puppy is, and responsive from standstill and highway cruising (until the higher rev range where diesels typically trail off, but by then you're motoring). All have been very impressed by the mileage on their treks - 30mpg (US) beating on it in the city, 50mpg (US) on some highway romps - and the car in general. Sure I will be too!

If they'd just offer the :censor: TDI in the Tiguan I'd buy one as it'd meet all my requirements, despite being priced higher  :banghead:

DSG has a bit of a lag when you floor it, besides that felt like the 323

DSG has no lag when you use the lever to change gear AirB... but for some strange reason it has a bit of a lag when using the paddles.  I also agree about a lag in "drive" kickdown and I wonder if that is programmed in to make it feel just like a slushbox.

Having said that.   I suppose that the DSG can be programmed to do anything that VW engineers/marketing people want. I saw on a forum that the rev matching on downshifts has been removed for 2009 dunno why it would be but whatever...   Needs one of the chip firms to do some r&d and reprogramming of that transmission . 8)

No paddles in the TDI
I really only noticed the lag from a stop.
I also though it may be a tranny learning thing
Since the car is used for test drives, the learning curve must be all over the place

yes.  It would be a Germanic Fit but with even better economy.

I like diesels... same as I like these modern turbo engines.  Its the plateau of torque.

It's a bit on the soft side for my tastes, but it's definitely no camry... and it's not that bad either.. and you can always go aftermarket $200 OEM drivergear springs or aftermarket... w/e

A query for all VW fans/experts - where is each of the Rabbit 2.5, the GTI, and the Jetta wagon made? Japan, Mexico or ?.

I could look it up I guess, but I imaging someone on here knows. Thanks.  :)
