Playstation 3

My PS3 won't load any games. I put a game in and it won't do anything. It's only three months old, has anyone hear of or had this problem? And does anyone know if it's covered under factory warranty? Thanks

We were at Best Buy yesterday looking at them and the sales guy said to wait for the 80 gig model because it will be backwards compatible. The 40 gig model you have will only play those games specifically designed for it according to him. Now if it is those games you are trying to load, you have a problem and I would double check your connections and if all seems ok then a trip back to service might be your fastest solution.

The 80 gig comes out next month with a $499 list.

Take it back to Futureshop or wherever. Perhaps you're still under the over-the-counter exchange period.

FS or BB have only 30 day return policies.

Do a search in the following forum:
http://www.avsforum.com

They will have your answer.

I have heard of a few cases of failing BD drives in the PS3. Will it still play movies? If not, looks like you will be calling Sony and getting a coffin to send it back in. Good luck.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil.  You bought an expensive game system and, three months later, it's broken.  Make noise with both Sony and the store where you bought it until one of them does something about it.

Gaming Consoles have a manufacturer warranty of 12 months. After the first 30 days, you have to contact the manufacturer direct. The retail outlets cannot do anything after 30 days.

80GB PS3 have a 'software' emulation for old PS2 games, suppose to be backward compatible. There is a 60GB version out on the market, have the actual hardware chip of the PS2, which is 100% backward compatible.

I wonder how it is that BB says the 80's won't be out until next month and you already have one. BB didn't mention anything about a 60 though either so maybe their info isn't too current. On the other hand after going to two different stores we only saw the 40's. ???

There were 80GB versions out on the market, Sony hasn't make any more since tho, hence none can be found on the shelf. The 80GB that will hit the market next month is a newer version.

There is rumor of a PS4 out soon. Sony is losing $$$ on the PS3 hardware platform.

PS4 = 2011 - a long way off.

PS3 will be fine now that Blu-Ray is bound to take off.

I called Sony and they want me to update my software. I will try it but there seems to be more wrong here.

BD will be a tougher sell than DVD was for the common person. The difference isn't enough for most people and the price is still too much of a difference (software and hardware).

Standard answer. Does your PS3 still play BD or DVDs?

That plus the fact that a nice Full HD TV is a must have if you want to enjoy the BR on its full capacity.

driver02, try the software update, if nothing changes take it back.

I was really apprehensive to buy a video game, with the RRoD on the XBOX and some read speed issues on the PS3, then I decided to get the XBOX with a 3 year warranty, peace of mind at least.

I did the update and it's still not reading movies or games. Sony is sending a box for me to return it but I may go to Future Shop and make some noise to see if they will do something on the spot.
