Audi came up with the cool 'Quattro' name for their AWD in 1980, would makes sense the marketers at VW of the time dreamed up something similar

Yup, Steyr-Daimler-Puch developed a  4x4 drivetrain for these.

Here's an example of one: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a39152763/1989-volkswagen-vanagon-gl-syncro-camper-bring-a-trailer-auction/
It went for $35k USD
I remember synchro on a Passat.

With the supercharged G60 engine from the Corrado. They sold 300 in Canada and none in the U.S., all manuals. Neat car.
Oh!

Didn't know it was a rare/unique car.

Interesting info!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Up close to a Lucid Air at the mall Sunday. Utterly disappointing car in person. If Ford redesigned the Taurus it would look like this. Would be fine if this thing were $40,000, but not at the price they ask. The interior looks nice though.

They should hire the designers at Genesis to pen what a six-figure luxury car should look like.

Funny you should mention Genesis. When I had the GV80, the doctor next door called it "incredibly ugly" and my daughters nicknamed my G80 presser "the hearse", and refered to it as "an old rich white guy's car". I guess you and I are both Gen-X'rs as I love what Genesis does in the styling department. Haven't seen a Lucid in the flesh yet; in pictures, I like the exterior but the interior not so much. Pricing is something else though  :P

I've actually said this before, it's the one use-case where the Lightning could make sense.  Enough range for in-city work, able to power your tools throughout the work day, charge to full every night.

Still not sure you'd come out ahead vs a V6 gasser contractor truck when price is factored in, but whatever.

First in-person Ariya sighting. I thought it looked pretty sharp for an SUV.

And this Escape a while ago  ;D

Oh, and this Ford branded EV, no idea what it is...

^^ Ford E-Transit

https://www.ford.com/commercial-trucks/e-transit/

Thanks. 108 miles or range is barely adequate, especially with a contractor use in mind, when you have to be everywhere and on time. "A" for the effort I guess. Just needs double that 68 kWh battery to be a no-compromise vehicle, with plentiful fast chargers around.

I dunno...the few times I've had a "contractor" here they were here for the bulk of the day...or had "one other" job to attend to before making it to my place.

Even if both jobs were in opposites sides of the county, 160km range would be more than enough.

Would really depend on their work region IMO

The contractors I know will go where work is, e.g. from Richmond Hill to Hamilton and back in one day. That would be mostly 407 where the average speed of traffic is 120kph. Add running a heater and in winter you'd get what, 60-70 miles, perhaps less with a cargo. So you are lucky if you make it one way.

But obviously some trades, like electricians, can afford to live downtown and work there too and supplies can be stocked up to last for weeks. It depends...

Maybe it's not low in the back, maybe it's high in the front because the engine is out?
