So this one's a little weird, but I witnessed part of a high speed chase yesterday.  I was driving home from a day of canoeing at Caddy Lake.  I was driving down McLeod Ave - a regional collector street that is quite busy, with parked cars, plenty of pedestrians, businesses, houses, etc. I notice a black pickup truck coming towards me, pass another vehicle, which is an odd move on such a street, but okay, some people do it sometimes, especially if it's a very slow driver they're following.  Then I notice the police car behind him lights and siren on, and my first thought is Oh, Man, he chose a bad time to do an illegal pass.  But rather than stopping, he squeezes between me and another opposite direction driver at what must have been 80km/h, cop car in close pursuit.  I keep an eye on him in my rearview mirror, and he's weaving around all the regular traffic, blows through the stop sign I just stopped at, etc.  It's at that point I realize, Oh Crap, that's a high speed chase, just like I've seen on TV.  I reach the stop sign to turn onto my street, and another cop car comes flying along, maybe 30s after the chase vehicle/initial cop.  As I pull into my driveway and start unloading the canoe, all I can hear is sirens all through the neighbourhood.

Let me tell you, even though I had zero involvement in the chase, it's still a good way to get the adrenalin flowing.

I was driving across Hwy 401 earlier today, (a limited access, 100 kph limit, multi laner for you non-Toronto peeps,) and I passed a huge slab sided RV (32'?, maybe larger?), swaying back and forth on skinny little tires, (with a bunch of bicycles hanging off the back. Sorry Quad.). The the LEFT turn signal turns on and after a lurch or two, the behemoth swings into the RIGHT lane immediately into the path of a heavily loaded tractor trailer. The tractor trailer driver was no novice, and I assume being cautious of this moron, was on the brakes quickly. If the tractor trailer had hit that fiberglass monstrosity, it would have been game over for the occupants.

So either the RV driver was inept and after who knows how many miles traveled, didn't know the turn signals were wired incorrectly, or he was a plain idiot. (Maybe he was dyslexic?) But in any event, he owes his/her life to the tractor trailer driver.

Ran into a longtime friend Saturday evening. He was driving his KillerK, a car that's been in his family since new.  IIRC, it has less than 100,000 kms on it.  He's a body man, so it's in very good condition.

De-badged Reliant, for sleeker looks  ;D Nice job on the two-tone btw! A nice set of period-correct LeBaron or E-Class wheel covers would set it off well.

Saw a McLaren 720S Spider a couple times this weekend, in a really nice teal colour. Not many (any?) other $400k+ cars around Fredericton so it was a bit of a surprise.

Then yesterday afternoon I took the Clubman out to my buddy's cottage. On the way home I'm driving on the TCH and come up on a red Mini Cooper. As I'm about to pass the driver puts his window down and when I pull up alongside I glance over and his passenger is taking a photo of my car. 🤔
