It's not just rice,  it's those 'ready before you are' meal thingies.

I've seen it, it's just one of a series where the food is ready before the people are ready for it.

We, mrs tpl and I have seen it and wonder why:

If it is breakfast time and the woman is late for work: why is she eating chicken pilaf for breakfast
if it is evening and she is going out, why isn't someone else buying her dinner.

and

 she smiles when she tastes it...what is to smile about... packaged stuff microwaved, probably quite disgusting.

and

I have never seen a microwave that counts UP on its timer which the one in the ad does.

Yes, but you're missing the point:  she's in her bra, and runs to the microwave.  Therefore, we must buy some of whatever it was. 

One ad that I find odd, is the one for some yogurt (activa, maybe), where the whole emphasis seems to be on some woman dressed in skin tight yellow, and her lower midriff.  I guess the point is that if you eat this stuff, you too can expose most of your goods, but it just seems odd to me.

It is precooked rice with a carefully controlled moisture content. I bet that in the real world it says "heat on full power for 1 minute ( or 2) and let stand for 1 minute (or 2). And of course it starts at room temperature.

yes indeed.   Now if she looked even slightly Chinese    East Asian and took a bowl of  Uncle Ben's instant Congee with fish balls out of the microwave....  it would have been a great and carefully targetted ad. Or indian South Asian with Rice and Dhall garnished with a chilli...and many other possibilities.  It could even have been an ad for microwave ovens.

It's been my experience that women often get ready (put on make-up, do their hair, etc) in their bra. You don't get make-up, hair 'stuff', etc. on your clothes, then you put on your top right before you walk out the door.

I really don't think the woman is supposed to be 'sexy' or 'alluring'.
