the vast majority of Co2 comes from the oceans!

Are you sure about that?  Can you site a source?
My diesel car self-identifies as an electric vehicle.

Canada is -40C for ha;f the year so we'll always be in the lead wen it comes to energy consumption, and for good reasons...

  Where do you live? I can't even remember the last time I saw -40C even with the wind chill.

Our average minimum temperature doesn't even go below freezing in winter

I am not totally sure what date but we do know that GM is designing a new Engine for this size of vehicle and it most certainly will be a Diesel for sure. I strongly suspect it will be worth the wait.  :)

Maybe some variation of this Duramax 4.5 Litre Diesel?:

It seems to me that this thread has been gone over before. Is there not a limit to the ratio of diesel..gasolene...aviation fuel...tar etc. that can be produced from a barrel of oil. So that, if this is the case, then higher volumes of diesel will not be available. Is diesel not used for heating homes here too... maybe that this is not so in Europe possibly thereby making more diesel available for transportation there.
If the above is true, not known to be so by me, then how can a different product mix, in favour of more diesel be achieved.
