Pre-heated the Tesla to 30C before we got in the car on the weekend.  It was only 8C at 6AM when we left on our trip, so getting into a toasty car was really nice (luxurious even).   It hit the overall trip efficiency, using about 5kWh to pre-heat for a 100 km drive, and only 18 kWh for the driving, so 18+5=23 kWh for 100 km trip, about $3 in "fuel".

30C? That's insane.

Yup I wouldn't call that luxurious, sounds like a sweat shop to me!

One thing is for sure, I don't like that speedometer.  I find the ones going to 260 excessive, but at least you will often see the needle go to halfway point.  Not on the GTI, in North America, legally anyway...

Drove from the Okanagan to Calgary and back a few days ago. '07 Crown Vic with over 171K kms. The car used 9l/100km when loaded with about 150kgs of personal stuff, and 8.2l/100km when the car was empty on the way back.

Taken after coasting downhill to a stop sign?   No way in hell a GTI gets 3.2, or you're not driving it right. Take away your man card.  :stick:

Oh don't worry, my GTI sees red line plenty of times on every drive. I was parked at the top of a mtn pass in Vermont for a hike then and had to drive back down to the valley. Think I could have gotten it even lower.

You get use to the speedometer quickly but get your point. They changed the new ones so you have more space for lower speeds.

From Winnipeg to Kakabeka Falls (near Thunder Bay) in the Berlin taxi.

7.6l/100km over 700km at a leisurely average pace of 95km/hr.

Not bad for that hefty car.

Solid. I was generally been pleased with the real world fuel economy of the CLK too, and that's even with the V8.

Got 8.2 on a trip TO to Montreal at 120 most of the way.

The GLK sucks though, too boxy I guess.

Record for my Mazda6.

Wife and I went to Montreal for the weekend, longest trip the 6 has done in one weekend.  Usually take the van for long trips, but it was just the 2 of us.

Anyways, from Burlington to just outside Montreal (591km) average of 114km/h, 6.3L/100km going against the wind. Then getting into Montreal, driving around South shore, Laval, during the weekend (about 100km).  Then from downtown Montreal to Cornwall brings the tank total to 809.7 km, at an average of 6.8L/100km.  Did the numbers by hand as well, it works out to 6.79L!

From Cornwall to Hamilton (had to go get our kids) 515km, going with the wind, 5.9L/100km, average of 108km/h (Hamilton really brought down the average speed), but the cruise was set to 120km/h the whole way.

I am curious what the numbers would be if I had it set to 100km/h, 15C outside, and summer tires! Mid 5's?!  Screw CVT!

Drove 400 km last week entirely paid for by the Best Western in KW Ontario.  We charged the Tesla fully on their charger when staying and drove back and forth to Toronto twice during the week.

Fuel economy was essentially infinity.  NICE!   8)

2016 Audi A3 e-tron... 3,000km going to North Carolina and back. Used "Hybrid" mode the entire time, got mid-6s on premium fuel. Smaller tank means more frequent fills, but of course, it's a PHEV so long distances aren't what it's meant for.

The Fiat 500X we have as a rental (17k on the clock) isn't bad on the autoroute. Low 7s possible. But around town it hovers around 10 l/100km, a couple tenths worse than my 3er although that can be attributed to a lack of start/stop at the lights. Still disappointing in today's standards.

For sure, considering I average 8L in the city with my 6.

Driving a 1.4 tsi Jetta this week average 6.9

Not bad.   But the speedo was off 10km/h.  Was wondering why everyone was passing me while cruising at 120.

So I would have got worse had I traveled the actual speed I thought I was traveling

A huge part of the high consumption, and overall driveability shortfall of the Fiat 500X is related to the jumpy throttle calibration, at least with the 2,4 litre lump of coal Tigershark engine. I can quickly adapt and *breathe* onto the throttle, but the first mere fraction of pedal travel yields something like 35% throttle.

I thought the era of hypersensitive throttle calibration "to impress the customer" was over.  ???

The first, to ensure their drivers don't go too fast and ruin their fuel economy.

The second, to make their drivers feel like a BOSS.  8)

Yep, I found that out a few months ago as well...I'm cruising at "126-128 km/h" now.  :P
