It's all relative.

Recently saw a documentary whereby bidders paid over 55 million for a piece of canvas with some drawings and paint. Heck it wasn't even 50 years old.
Past New (8yrs) Car Dealer for : BMW, Lexus, Nissan and Toyota
Past Used Vehicle Dealer: All Makes and Models. Seen a lot of it. Drove a lot of it.
Four-stroke Otto Engine 1876. Modern timer, pop-up toaster 1919 keep convincing yourself that you have the "latest appliance".

Drove 450km this weekend, started with about 90% charge, about ~370km of "rated range" (Tesla term) and topped up at the hotel we stayed in.
Averaged 25 kWh / 100 km, left lane was empty. ;-)

Drove 571 km this weekend, started with 100% charge and visited quite of few DCFCs on my way ;)
70.5 kWh / 571 km => 12.35 kWh / 100 km, at the wheel. Usually +14% average more from the network.

Wow! I did see efficiency like that for a ride we took in the Tesla, all country roads, averaging 70 km/h on back roads.
Meanwhile, crested 64000 km in the Tesla this weekend.

I've been reviewing winter tire / rim options and wonder what they will do to efficiency, not that it will be possible to judge as lower temperatures and wet roads will affect range way more than tires.

From Winnipeg to Kakabeka Falls (near Thunder Bay) in the Berlin taxi.

7.6l/100km over 700km at a leisurely average pace of 95km/hr.

Not bad for that hefty car.

No, I did not like their gas prices. I did like some of the new highways though. The twinning east of TB is very nice plus there's a new freeway running west. No work, I was visiting my dad.

Got a reasonable 5.8 l/100 km on the Focus on a trip from Waterloo to Ottawa. I'm sure my dad's corolla would have hit less than 5.0, but oh well.

Anyone check out Triple Bob's Golf TDI Fuelly stat in his signature?

0.07 L/100km is 78570 km on a 55L tank of diesel. I think he should avoid getting his car "fixed" with the recall for as long as possible.

Thought I'd check the mileage on the fusion after changing over to synthetic earlier this week and got 7.9l/100km on a little more than 400km jaunt yesterday. Mostly highway and most of that at a steady 120 km/h, but also some city and through a few construction zones. Not bad for a relatively heavy 6 yr old ford with awd and almost 145k on the clock.

The Versa got an average of 6.63 L/100 km on a recent trip to Trail and Castlegar. That included a couple of very high and steep mountain passes, so not too shabby for an 8-year old car with a 4-speed slushbox. The best leg of the trip was between Vernon and Grand Forks via Kelowna and Osoyoos, on that stretch the car used only 5.24 L/100 kms. If my math is right, that works out to around 53 miles per Imperial gallon and that's better than the Versa got when it was new.

North American spec Jeep Cherokee. Yes, this is my 3rd car in 4 months. I am also back in North America for 1 week, although I already want back in Germany. I will have to suffer thru a week of 'murrica.

On a 100km stretch of driving under ideal conditions, I achieved 7,5 l/100km in moderate rolling terrain. 40% autoroute @ 120km/h and 60% rural driving 90-110km/h. However, this kind of driving was admittedly unrealistic as I was able to loaf around in 8-9th gears. Under "normal" circumstances you will see mid 8s with the oh-so-weak-gasping 4-cylinder.

Already want to go back to Germany? I remember reading quite a few things your weren't fond of. And your back in North America? That's kind of vague, that covers thousands of kilometers. Covering all 3 countries?

Under the terms of my job delegation, I'm entitled to one return trip back to the home country during the 6 months. In this case, that means the US.

Pre-heated the Tesla to 30C before we got in the car on the weekend. It was only 8C at 6AM when we left on our trip, so getting into a toasty car was really nice (luxurious even). It hit the overall trip efficiency, using about 5kWh to pre-heat for a 100 km drive, and only 18 kWh for the driving, so 18+5=23 kWh for 100 km trip, about $3 in "fuel".

Man, I already had to tank the Cherokee. That thing needs a smaller turbocharged engine instead of the lump of coal they call a 4-cyl.

Manual calculation is 9,8 l/100km based on 50 litre fill over 510km driven.

30C? That's insane.
