So,

The Altima usually does 6.9-7.3 l/100kms on the highway.  Today we'll be doing 3 hours of highway, but with 1000lbs of trailer tent hooked up to the back of it.  Anyone care to take any guesses as to what my fuel usage will increase to?  I'll be sticking between 90 & 100 km/h, more for safety reasons than economy.

If I have cell service I'll post the results when we get there this evening.

On a V6 my fuel economy only went up 10% with towing approx 1000lbs.  On your 4 cylinder I would say closer to 15%, so my estimate is 8.6L-9L/100km.

But I thought a truck was better?  Use a step stool!  ;D    As for traffic, it is Friday.  People taking off early going up North.  And things going on at the CNE, etc...

Last Thursday, at 11am.  Why?   Just saying Friday things are always really bad... Use to take me 30 minutes to do 6km to get on the Gardiner when my wife lived in Toronto.

Reading at some of the responses on this thread, I'm surprised at how thirsty some cars are.

Since a few years ago, I dictated that I wouldn't buy a car with a combined ECE cycle cons. of higher than 7,2 l/200km and extra-urban of higher than 6 l/100km (also CO² of >160 g/km).

6.3 l/100 km on our return from Pocono (Long Pond, PA) to Ottawa in the BMW 320i XDrive.  Cruising at 120 km/h indicated....117 km/h according to the GPS.

Tesla Model S P85D sets new world record in hypermiling. The car drove 728.7 km, 452.8 mi on a single charge. Start and stop point was supercharger in Rødekro, Denmark.

If this video convinced you to buy a new Tesla Model S, you can use the referral link below to get $1000 discount. Morgan will also receive $1000 in credits by Tesla. I already have ten referrals and can't get more sales.

That's the point of hypermile challenges, but thanks for clarifying. l-)

Thanks for posting the cruise control at 40km/h, saved me for clicking on a pointless link, that is unrealistic.

Why have these challenges?  If you get an electric car or hybrid to save a fuel consumption, then you have these challenges to see how long you can go, on conditions that are not realistic, its a waste of money, and power.  R&D is one thing, but there are a lot of these races/challenges.

According to the trip display on the car, like 53 km/h.

That's pretty good, I do quite a bit of city, with an average around 43km/h, and get 8.4L/100km.  So fairly reasonable for an S8!
