I recently drove to southern Maine and back in the X5. 1275 kms at an average speed pf 94.9kph (combined interstate at 130-ish, about 250kms of 2 lane at 95-115 and some US rt 1 ranging from stop and go to 30-60)  Traffic was fairly heavy on the Interstate so didn't use the cruise as much as I normally would have.
9.8/100 trip average. Paying the equivalent of about 1.50 CAD/liter fuel was about $195.

A few observations from a few vehicles lately;

My 16 Silverado 5.3 is averaging about 12.1L/100km mixed driving and about 10 even highway. Zero difference since buying the AFM muzzler. Truck no longer feels like it’s misfiring anytime it dropped into 4cyl mode. Still, it’s impressive for a full crew cab 6.5 ft box loaded up truck imo.

I’ve replaced that Silverado with another Duramax diesel 3/4 ton. Missed having that diesel 3/4 ton capability since our old one was written off. This one’s a 2010, still has all its emission equipment intact. That’s been averaging 13.5L/100 mixed. Just took a highway trip and it did 12.4 throughout the two days of mostly highway. About what my old Duramax got (2006). I’m thinking of deleting this and having it tuned, might see a huge improvement over those numbers according to the duramax hive.

Recently been driving a 2019 Chevy Cruze. So far I’m blown away by its efficiency. Today I drove from Kelowna to Kamloops and back and averaged 5.0L/100. On the flats @ 100km/h it went down to 4.5. On the hilly spots it showed 5.5.  It’s lifetime average reads 6.8L/100. My uncle has the diesel version and he gets low 4’s consistently on the highway.

I have now done 650 km since picking it up on Wednesday and I'm averaging 5.2 L/100 overall with mostly highway driving.

Loving the extra torque from the motors. Can see why people love these things.
