Cambridge - Lion's Head - Two short drives to trail heads over the weekend - Cambridge - Port Rowan (602 km total) = 5.4 L/100.

Ottawa to Saguenay.  The cruise was set between 120 & 125. No stops! Lots of hills. Bit of a crosswind.

I appreciate the long highway range.

that's good mileage on that TDI right there.  though you kinda expect to have it.

also, dang you guys drive fast...  i rarely go over 120 on highway normally, even when i was much younger.  nowadays, i'm happy to sit at 110~115 in the right lane most of the time.

i think lexus likes to sit right at 100, 2000 rpm, minimal vibration and engine noise. and gets into 7L range.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

I usually set the cruise in the SLK at 128, which according to my GPS is 124 & not one cop blinks an eye as I pass them at that speed.

What does the 112 km per hour denote on the screen ? The average speed  for the entire tank  I assume.

The average speed of the drive.  Getting out of the city and traffic in Quebec City brought it down.

You could easily be poked London-Windsor with those speeds.

Especially the Chatham tax. Is there ever a time there isn't 4+ OPP lined up along that section of 401?

Thankfully I don't have to deal with that :censor:! My Friday tee times are generally 1pm & I usually work till noon. At my usual 124ish in the SLK I'm at the course in 30mins or just under that, which gives me time to unload my gear, check in, hit the men's room, bang a few putts & stretch before my first tee shot.

So you are saving less than 1 minute vs driving 120 kph or 2 minutes @ 115 kph.

Ever see them doing laser? It's looks like a police meeting!

2-3 cars on the overpass with one guy shooting East and another guy shooting West.

Then another few cars each going East and West to actually catch the speeders.

When they are using that much manpower, you know they are making $$$$

Oh..and they use airplanes too when the weather is nice.

That stretch is a cash cow.

Thirty minute drive back from Simcoe to home, all back roads and light wind today - 4.8 L/100. Forgot to check the way there.

What kind of range do you usually get out of a tank?

That's some impressive mileage.

50L tank so I usually fill around 600 km. On long trips my bladder says stop anyway and at home, I usually don't leave with less than a 1/4 of a tank as most of my driving is on the highway and need to drive 100 km minimum.

Toyota likes to turn on the "fill light" very early and I've had the DTE hit zero even with 8L of fuel left which is easily another 100 km under normal conditions. When the car was still somewhat new, I went 30 km past zero (DTE) just to see how much fuel was left in the tank which confirmed, the light comes on very early. Clearly Toyota likes to place it very safe. My GTI when it said zero (DTE) you better be able to see a gas station within blocks.

But the theoretical distance with leaving 5L in the tank is 750 km @ 6 L/100 or 820 @ 5.5 L/100. Unless my math is wrong.

Was out and about yesterday in some nasty winter conditions. Lots of slippage, -20, some hooning. LR4 was drinking 19L/100km of premium.  ;D
