If that in INSTANT that means nothing. You need to see AVERAGE even though that can be rigged. Tailwinds, downhill, etc.

LOL, that's what I said to him...you're going downhill (there are no hills between here and Wpg so, no)...or 3' behind a Kenworth...or it's super windy today...I accused him of all of it.  I know it's not his average, I can get into the 8's at those speeds in the Fusion, but 6's?  Maybe if I'm going 60-70 kmh.  My lifetime avg is 11.1 - which isn't bad considering, and his might be worse if he drives it like a rental.  No idea what his might be, his wife drove it for years and she's got light feet.  Now it's his winter beater...worthless, but runs like a champ and still comfy as a couch on 2 wheels like any good Bonne should be.  I don't think it's even terribly rusty from the outside, but he says any day now it might just fold in half.   ;D

Boat owners are getting killed at the pumps.

Our family boat uses 45 litres to convert the 32 mile round trip to the cottage.   At $2.09/L it's essentially a hundred bucks to get there and back.

And our boat is nothing compared to the boats we see cruising by. $300 day cruises are a regular thing for people.

I've given up ruminating over MPG.  It's a suckers game with the current government.  TAX TAX TAX.  The Tremor is unexpectedly good @ 14.4  since new.  I never reset it.  I saw the MDX the other day @ 11.4.  90% of our driving is rural highway @ 100 kph.

The Yamaha jet boat is, what it is.  It's a 3.5 months of the year proposition and used depending on water conditions and temperature.  It gets pretty good mpg although it's not towing people yet.  I bought gas at $1.55 yesterday and managed to stuff $200 liters into my portable tank which has turned into a godsend as the only marina in 30 miles had it's gasoline permit pulled by the MOE just after they installed new above ground tanks vis-a-vis MOE orders.  There are at least 100 really large boats there with no fuel.  People are losing there minds.  I would be.  :rofl2:

Guess it would take a while to fill those huge tanks from 25L jerry cans like I do with my little runabout!  :rofl2:

Somebody could make some money by hiring a fuel truck to come and sit on the side of the jetty, pumping fuel into all the large boats one by one.

Bought a 2014 Outback with the 6 speed manual. Did a trip through the mountains with 5 people aboard and got 7.4L/100km. Kinda a gutless thing but sure good on fuel. Got a little over 800km to the tank.

Those cars are tanks. Seen plenty with big k, the transmissions are the weak link.

I’ve had probably every s/c 3800 configuration GM made (Riviera, Impala, Grand Prix, Bonneville, Regal, Park Ave) and can confirm they’re really miserly on the highway. Great car to have if you drive highway and want some power with economy.

I'm not. The 3.8L is (was?) a beast. We have made no progress..

Don't know...scared it might break down!

I was really easy on it yesterday (90km/h) for 125km and it returned 10.8

That's the absolute best it will do IMO.

Quite the difference from when Jeremey Clarkson took that A8 Diesel from London to Edinburgh and back again on a single tank of gas.

The other big difference is the A8 diesel would sound like a turd and be way less engaging to drive.

Yeah, it's no V10, but it also managed 0-60 in 6.6s, so it's not like it was a slouch.

Anyway, I wasn't really directly comparing the two, just saying how Audi catered to the two extremes of fuel economy with the same car!

I remember going from Toronto to Chicago and then back to Detroit in a '16 (final year) A6 TDI press car. Still have a huge soft spot for that era of big diesel Audi sedan.

London - Oakville - Cambridge - London  (350 km of driving)

5.9 L/100 with roof rails on the car (has to add at least 0.1 L/100)

That's wild, how fast were you going?

And was that measured at the pump?
