Housing is like ... $500,000 for a 500 sqft condo in Vancouver?

I posted this link in another thread. It's a nifty little 430sqft place in a 40+ year old building with shared laundry for a smooth & easy $195,000.

That is not a bad view.

I live in small town Alberta, housing is somewhat (more) affordable. Basement TV room is 25x18, can't imagine in some place smaller than that. Not my cup of tea.

I guess because software guys are more in demand in Ottawa we get paid more?

Funny to see the QA scale down there, slightly lower than the software engineer.  Where I work everyone gets paid the same.  There is no difference between a QA and dev

James, Do the Ottawa QA resources actually test SW or just ensure the correct processes are used? Interesting, Toronto division it is done by a different department. SWIT (Software Integration and Test).

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

QA's test software and need to know the entire ins and outs of the system to do so well.

QAs also implement and monitor processes, something most developers don't know about.  ;D
Yeah but the developers need to conform to the process or I won't get my stink'n project out the door. ::)

IMHO the graph is vague. I find that depending what you level of skill sets and how needed they are for certain applications, you can get nice renumeration. I've put out offers on some specialised IT skillset as competitive as out East before. Some 'big' companies here are EA, Telus and soon to be Microsoft. I've worked with some large IT firms in Ontario and have yet to see a nicer campus than EA Games.
In BC, I feel salary takes a bit of a back seat in return for quality of life. Its a bit more laid back here. So it depends on what you want in life.
I highly recommend that you first rent here as real estate prices is at its peak (well we've said that for the last few years now...). Even far flung suburbs like Langley or Mission has higher price than the say Milton or Ajax. So rent a while and get the lay of the land before making any decision.
