I really like the interior......how long has the Aura been around in Europe?
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

The exterior is too melted jellybean blob for me.

It's not bad, but it looks more American GM than German Opel.

That looks nice!  I look forward to the Saturn rebadging (which I think is brilliant) that makes a car like that available here.  I think the Opel version of the Aura had been around for a number of years when we got it so its sort of an "older" platform.  The new Insignia is apparently going to arrive here much more quickly.

Brits of my vintage would never buy anything that was once a Vauxhall. They used to be cars that were just total crap.... although I have heard that they did improve in the '90s

Looks good, it could be a GM North America product but IMO that is a compliment. GM has had pretty decent stylists in North America all along (with a few exceptions like the Aztec and Uplander). Not like the Jekyll and Hyde Ford situation.

Wow, it seems like they are trying to one-up the new accord for complicated dashboards.

Rest of it looks great otherwise.

I kind of like it, but I wish they would tone down the head / tail lights.

Those are awesome rims though.

:iagree:  I don't think it's very nice-looking at all.

IIRC, other than the body, everything else was changed from the Vectra so technically the Aura is a different car IMO.

Some models will even have a new Adaptive 4x4 system.

I'd  take the Mondeo over the Insignia.

Really?  My understanding was that only the interior design (and quality) was significantly changed; everything else was basically the same as the Vectra.

Indeed they have. When we travel to visit family in the North West (that's code for Manchester and Lancashire) we have rented and driven Vectras and Astras. Both are actually decent cars - although not quite as good as say the Peugeot diesels which are wonderful vehicles to drive, in my experience.

Vauxhall feel more like European cars now, whereas they used to feel very American in their driving characteristics. However - as much as they have improved - they still aren't the best European cars. Nevertheless - given they are the new Saturn direction and are selling decently (although not overwhelmingly well) I expect they will continue to sell cars here for awhile.

Not sure about the new BMW looks though.

      * 0-60mph: 7.2 seconds
      * Top speed: 150mph
      * Economy: 30mpg (est)

      * Equipment (est): Knee and curtain airbags, FlexRide suspension, electric windows, CD stereo, alloy wheels, climate control
      * On sale: December

AT A GLANCE

      Vauxhall has made a real success of the Insignia. It’s everything the Vectra wasn’t – desirable, fun and with a feel-good factor from the behind the wheel. In fact, it’s a delight to drive, with excellent dynamics and great comfort. The new turbo petrol engine is strong and refined, but not quite as efficient as the 2.0 diesel. We look forward to driving that next week.

If that was available here as an Aura hatch, I'd probably buy one.

Sadly, the current Aura is likely going to soldier on for a number of years. The new Allure/LaCrosse will be the only way to get the most modern GM mid-sizer here for the next while it seems.
