Read in Car & Driver mag that there is:

1) No spare tire............
2) The panoramic moonroof will be fixed. It will not open......... >:(?

I was mildly interested but these are deal breakers for me :run:.

PS: I with many in the opinion that dash kinda sucks

BMW M3 used to come with a repair kit and no spare. Better that than runflats.
One hopes that the moonroof and the navigation will be options. Wouldn't want either of them

The current FIT dash is ugly as well  IMHO, the new one is no worse.

It sound like the new fit will be a winner, and a possibly replacement for our P5... But this has me a little concerned....

Quote
The only significant question mark we have over the new Jazz is with the steering. Honda has employed electric assistance and revised the rack to reduce the amount of effort required when trying to manoeuvre in tight spaces. But we found it too light and lacking feel, particularly around town.

It seems like a lot of the new car reviews comment that the steering is too light (like the new M3).

That dash seems a little odd, though...  I'll reserve judgement on that one until I can get a driver's perspective on it, though.  :)

Reminds me of a Pontiac dash wise. I still find the Fit/Jazz looks like a Baby Merc. I really think this will shake up the compact market here in NA. It will be so radical. I find the all sub compacts here are a tad dated. Do I sense a New Yaris on the Horizon.   :)

Really. I thought it was nice. I love the blue. No counting for taste. :P

I'm surprise you'd even buy and own a car that you dislike the dash. Who is wearing the trouser when comes to car choice.  :stick:  ;D :P

It seems like a lot of the new car reviews comment that he steering is too light (like the new M3).

I think Honda will fixed that in 10's  :-\

Seems like yesterday the old Fit arrived. Good on Honda for not delaying the introduction of the new one too much. Looking forward to checking the new one out and seeing if it improves on its predecessor in the ways I'm hoping.

Honda announces pricing for all-new 2009 Fit
Toronto, Ontario - Honda Canada has announced the all-new 2009 Fit will go on sale across Canada on September 15 with a base MSRP of $14,980.

“The new Fit is designed to raise the bar in the Canadian subcompact market by taking what is already great about the Fit and making it even better with an increased fuel efficiency, safety and fun-to-drive character,” said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice-president of Honda Canada Inc. “With the recent rise in fuel costs, the fuel-efficient Fit is the ideal vehicle for Canadians looking for lower fuel costs partnered with high value and class-leading functionality.”

The Fit features a new, more powerful 117-horsepower 1.5-litre engine, with five-speed manual transmission or optional segment-unique five-speed automatic transmission. Estimated fuel economy with the manual transmission is 7.2 L/100 km in city and 5.7 L/100 on the highway; with the automatic, estimated economy is 7.1 and 5.5.

The new Fit also includes an improved suspension and steering, body-rigidity enhancements, improved rear Magic Seat with one-motion dive-down functionality, an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, and front seat active head restraints, along with standard side and curtain airbags and anti-lock brakes. Pricing will range from $14,980 to $20,480.

The Dark Blue is my favourite colour for the Fit.  Though Red is a close second.  :)

Nothing wrong blue. I'm just not keen on dark blue.

I do think a spot model should always be a bright colour IMO or whats the point. :)

I was quite keen on a white one for a long time, until the salesman showed me the dark blue.  In person, it's quite elegant...  makes the car very classy, imo.  Though I agree in principle otherwise: the red Fit especially looks very sporty and very "spunky".

I'm quite excited to see the 2009 Fit in person, though it'll probably be spring before I get a chance to drive one.  :/  But unless the Mazda2/Ford Fiesta is available by then and simply blows me away, I'll likely be getting into a Fit within a year or so...

Does Honda have a diesel option in the rest of the world

This will be a HUGE hit for Honda... definitely going to be the class leader.  If this was around when we bought our Civic it'd be in our driveway instead.

Looks great in white  8)

I have heard stability control will be available on the new Fit but only with the Sport package with mandatory Navigation.  Not sure I want Navigation and there is a big price jump to get the Sport.  They should have offered it across all trims and I think they will have to as mandated by US law in 2012 for their American cars.

The did on the MK1 Jazz/Fit. You bet your life they will offer diesel within 6 mths. But not here of course. The engine is bigger here too. 1.2 and 1.4  are only offer in Euroland.

The old one went from $14,980 to $20,880, so considering the 2009 Sport model has Nav and ESP standard they've dropped pricing a little. Not pulling a Toyota/Mazda type pricing readjustment though, maybe sticking with low lease rates to subsidize the price?

Will the Canadian Fit actually get Nav, though?  In the States the Civic is available with SatNav, too, but us Canadians have to move up to the CSX to get it.  I'm not holding my breath that our Fit will get SatNav...

FWIW anyway, a Pioneer Navigation Receiver can offer voice-activated Nav, iPod control, Bluetooth cell capabilities, and a better stereo, for less than $1000.  That's likely the route I would chose to go.

Honda has had a habit lately of decontenting cars and then knocking just a touch off the previous Canadian MSRP and calling it a price adjustment.  If they were to do this with NAV on the Sport Fit it wouldn't bother me at all.   What I don't want them to get rid of is stability control.
