Toyota is finally getting smart by getting Smart. The Toyota iQ Concept from Frankfurt will show up at the Geneva Motor Show as a fully capable production vehicle that will be a "break-through in compact urban transportation." And by a break-through they mean a Japanese version of the Smart (see the name). The last rumor we heard was that the iQ will be powered by Yamaha motorcycle engine, but powertrain and pricing details are scarce.
I thought the Aygo was supposed to serve the same purpose. This is smaller?

^^^^Don't be a hater.....Are the Smarts really that unreliable? What's the problem area?
It says that it's going to have a Yamaha motorcycle engine in that article. Air cooled? Prolly not, but still don't read anything about bringing it to NA. If that is the case (pun) I guess we won't have the right IQ!
The 600cc unit in my Yam FZ6 puts out 100hp at the crank and red lines at ~14000rpm. The 1000cc in the R1 is somewhere around 160hp or so now. Of course Canadians will never see it, as we're just poor unarmed Americans with healthcare, and really prefer trucks.
Smarts have chronic turbo failures and AC trouble. Far from Toyota build quality.
