Infiniti EX
« on: January 13, 2008, 11:13:30 am »
Does anyone know the price point at which the new Infiniti EX is going to debut in Canada?  It's sitting in the low to mid 30's in The States.  Can we count on 10 - 15k more up here?

Seemed very steeply priced up here (AJAC tested a more loaded model $55Gs - aren't they all?), but don't recall what base MSRP was. Remember thinking pricing was high for the value Infiniti offers in the G. I guess the mid-sized luxury utes are getting expensive and the compacts are slotting in just beneath them now.

Okay, now that's more like it. I'd be wise on the options... good deal at $40 becomes pricey at $55 IMO, but seems to be a luxuriously powerful vehicle... will have to inspect one up close.

I wasn't sure what to call it since it's a crossover... is it a car or an SUV?  :)

Loaded EX AWD without Nav and Tech package goes for $42K US (including destination and prep).

If the prices mentioned here are accurate, looks like history will repeat itself and we'll see the typical ~$10K premium on this side of the border.

Huh??? The US Infiniti website has different prices listed for base model.

No HID as standard equipment? Otherwise the base model sounds good at $40,000.

Also.... what is scratch shield paint?  It sounds like something new.  Anyone have any insight on this?

Paint that 'fills in'/repairs scratches. Sounds pretty cool and a worthwhile feature.

Didn't Mazda claim to have similar on the '93 RX-8 which turned out to be not so stellar?

With 5.7" of ground clearance, it is not a SUV.

It looks just like an FX35 I thought it was!  Just much shorter and smaller.

Didn't I say "loaded"???

Since you already made the effort to go to the Infiniti website, why don't you actually use the tool you posted a link for to verify the relevant facts before making your post?  ;)

I too think the EX as a G35 hatchback after seeing it at the auto show. However, it has to have one of the most useless trunk of all 4 door hatchback in the industry. A little like a 3rd seat in many vehicles, it's a proposition of choosing either cargo or passengers, can't have both. Because of the angle of the rear hatch and the cargo area being so short, a large suitcase wouldn't likely fit along the wheel well per example. It would have to be put sideways and block your rearview, or put flat on the floor. At least the rear seats are very comfy.

The new Volks Tiguan cargo capacity is far superior by comparison.

Otherwise, it's a very nice car, excellent interior, a little bland on the outside for the category though. It doesn't have the prestige a G35, FX, RDX, X3 or even a Murano.

I would certainly consider one of these if I were in the market for a sporty-ish CUV and would shop it against the RDX at the very least.
