I'd probably be inclined to go with the nicer trim level in the Jetta. Of course it depends on your unique needs and priorities but the new model Passat almost looks too big to me.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

The Mrs grew up in a home that always had large cars, so I guess her roots are showing!
Personally I like the size of the Jetta betta. ;D

The Passat is massive.

I would want the 2.0T, its just so much better than the 2.5.

Remember I drive a GMC extended cab 95% of the time, I think a Passat is rated a mid-size wagon

Just read this on TDI.club
in US gallons
I can not back this up, but a trusted source says that VW TDI Jetta & Sportwagen have now passed EPA Certification. Same source says real world mileage is expected mid 40's city, mid 50's highway. Same source says the gentlest foot might even see as high as 60 highway. I'm sorry I can't back this up, but I'm only selling it as a rumor from someone I personally trust.

Looked at the wagon on the weekend but didn't drive it. The guy said the TDI isn't until October but I can give them $1,000 now to hold my spot in line.

Loved the amount of space in the trunk, almost the same size as my 6-wgn, just a little (3-4 inches) shorter. Interior is great, always loved VW for that. Had to move my seat forward (I'm 6 foot) for my driving position, very rare in cars today. Backseat space is small (leg room) unless the seat is moved up but that isn't a concern for us.

Didn't like how the rear seats folded down. You have to flip up the bottom which rests against the front seats then fold down the back. You loose space behind the front for storing things. My P5 did that I didn't like it then. Why can't others do it like the Mz6-wgn where it still folds flat without having to flip/fold the seat?

Also didn't like that you have to move to the Comfortline package just to get heated seats.

The sunroof is gigantic, I wonder how wind noise will be with it.

Since its a wagon you don't get to push the VW logo to open the trunk. I asked the guy why and he said its because its a wagon they can't do it....I said, the Rabbit has the same/similar door and they did. His response again was because its a wagon. I guess I'm the one that doesn't understand.

I wonder why no 2.0T model though.

With the back seat down, did you have move you seat forward to make it work? Was there still enough room for you in the driver seat?
That sunroof looks great!!

I thought comment was funny, but they are just salesmen not designers
I never expect them to know much about the why something is designed that way.
I guess be glade he knew how to open the rear door ;D

The salesman moved the seat forward before folding down the seat. Looking how tight it was after he folded down the seat I would think you would have to do this first all the time. The rear seat was un-folded before I got in the front and I didn't check either.

I'll try to check this next time I look at the car.

Yes, headrest needed to be removed first.

If you don't flip up the bottom seat first you can still fold down the seat(s) but it won't be flat, maybe a 10-20 degree angle. Doing it this way the headrest can be left in.

Alright everyone, for all of those people that are interested to know. There are new Jetta Sport Wagons in showrooms now. You are welcome to make your way down to get your self acquated with space and feel. The new 2.0T TDI is available to order now. What VW is doing is they are releasing one sedan to each delearship in the month of June for test driving ONLY!!! People will be able to confirm there orders on this car at that time. There is a rumor at this point that there will only be a specific nuber of cars released for the 09 model year and will obvioulsly be a first come first serve basis. We are looking at a delivery time of September for delivery to customers. As for prices the TDI 6speed will start at $26,975 and go to $34,275. We are talking base model manual to loaded automatic. My recommendation is that if you are serious about buying put your order in now and make the deal subjest to test drive!!!

With the rear seat fold up, there is still a lot of room for the driver.
