With all due respect what laziness are you talking about? Or is it better to buy a porsh with a stick for a Sunday afternoon shopping tour and amuse the neighbours with gear grinding and everybody else with scheduled stop sign stalls? Is that considered enthusiasm?

Someone who has enthusiasm for driving would likely (a) be more than happy to learn how to shift gears and drive properly and (b) enjoy the mechanical feedback and control that a manual transmission gives to the driver.

Many of us are enthusiasts and many like myself make 200 clicks a day, sometimes in traffic. So even though its more fun to have than a slushbox, your left knee may not share the same sentiment.

Nevermind, your walker probably wouldn't fit in the Porsh anyway.

Edmunds Full Test of the Evo X GSR.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=124209?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.*

I hate it how they lead off that it's "slower" than the EVO IX.  That's only true in a straight line, and it's not even true at all until the cars are north of 75 mph.  That's not "slower" for a rally car, only a drag racer.  But nobody buys rally cars for the drag strip.  If you want straight-line speed, for the same price (in the US market, at least) you could get a Mustang GT with a blower and some chassis mods, or maybe even a 350Z with twin-turbo kit.  The EVO X is much faster around a track than the IX due to its superior chassis and electronics, and when we're talking "speed" with rally cars, speed on a twisty road or a track is what really matters.

Anyway, that review confirmed for me that I'm in love with the EVO X.  Thanks for posting that.  And I'm glad that we finally get some good interior shots of the EVO GSR.

Looks pretty nice to me, though I'd rather have the EVO MR's Rockford Fosgate sound system.

Yes, thanks for posting that carcrazy - "It handles like a rear wheel drive car"

The Mitsu dealer in Burlington gave me a call yesterday to say he has "news about my Evo".  I have no idea what the news is yet (he's off today)...and no, I didn't buy anything...although he seems to think so!

Today Autoblog has a post about the Ralliart version.... This is the vesion I would get.

Whatever it is, it'll be revealed at Detroit.  They thought it was the Lancer Ralliart (which is on the way--masked versions have been videotaped testing), but I thought it might be the MR.  Either way, we'll know in a week.  If the Lancer Ralliart really is a 230-240hp Lancer with the EVO IX's all-wheel-drive, as rumored, it'd be on my short list if something happened to my pimpin' sorority girl car.

EDIT:  Never mind, that must be the Ralliart, because it has GTS wheels, whereas I remember now that the EVO MR was supposed to have some ultra-fancy 19" rims.  It's certainly more of a looker than the WRX...

It also has the Ralliart logo on the grill. The fenders are as on the regular Lancer versus the Evo. I think it is the Ralliart.
The Evo MR has the 18" BBS versus 18" Enkei wheels on the GSR.

More Evo & STi entertainment:

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/09/video-battle-royale-between-new-and-old-evos-imprezas/

It's entertaining to watch, but it's also worth noting that with a different selection of drivers or a different track, the results could have been the opposite.  In fact, I've read other reviews where people have proclaimed the new EVO "faster" than the new STI because their driver was faster with it on their track, etc.

Both the new and previous EVO and new and previous STI are truly, truly sick cars.  Personally, though, the new EVO remains the most appealing to me.

Interesting!  It's amazing how familiar Tsukuba looks after playing too much Gran Turismo.

Yeah. I'm looking forward to that. I think there is a lot mor entertainment to come from the Evo vs. STi battle. Regardless, they both are sick cars so it's jut a matter of personal preference.

I'd like to see them against other performance cars - Mustang, Viper, Corvette, M3, M5, RS4, etc. and see how they perform. Not that they are direct competitiors or anything, but they are various interpretations of car performance.

Just chatted with Burlington Mitsu - Apparent price point is $39 to $44...and it should be in with a matter of days.

Ralliart confirmed as well...around 230 HP.

This sounds about right. I heard from my Mitus dealer that each dealer would get an Evo for the showroom floor in January; however it won't be available for a test drive.

:o   :fall:    If it proves to be true, that'll be fantastic and in my most humble opinion, the start of the turnaround revolution for Mitsubishi in Canada.  STI who again?  Who cares!?
