Canadian dealers selling Imported cars.
« on: October 26, 2007, 04:00:40 pm »
I saw in the local paper today an advertisment for brand new tribecas imported from the US for 33000.  Great deal since msrp here in Canadian prices are about 45000 for this exact SUV.  Hopefully more brokers will do this.  If you are looking to buy a Subaru Tribeca check out www.multiline.ca  They have five in stock with less than 10km on them.

The Diamond Grey looks really good on 'er. There's one near me.

This is getting crazy. Something will have to be done about the price imparity. Won't go away anytime soon.

That's a heck of a deal....why not jump now?  Especially if you're looking at something they have in stock.

Interesting ... I was waiting to see if someone did something like that. Looks of room for profit and customer savings.

A US demo? From a Canadian dealer? Riiiight. Probably a rental. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

I agree that it is not probably a demo.  For example, Toyota demos are sold as if the were never registered.  That is to say that the clock on the warranty starts the day it was sold.  The existing mileage however is not credited.

Exploratory e-mail sent. I’m sure there are other costs not mentioned.

Just drove through Darmouth, NS and noticed the GM dealer with a big huge sign that they were selling used US cars.  Wondering if they are actually passing the saving on to the consumer.

Local Ford dealership imported a F-150 from the US for a coworkers neighbour.

Also I was in the local Audi/VW dealership today and overheard a sales person saying that they would import any car from the US for a customer for $750.

They may as well get in on this while they can too!

This is more like it. Canadian dealers make money, Canadian consumers save a bundle, everyone wins.

Just saw another ad in the Star from a Toyota dealership in Buffalo, offering deals on demos for Canadians.

Seems fair to me....Based on US MSRP and invoice they're probably only marked up around 3K. Not bad when you consider they bought them, transported them to Canada, went through the import process and are now holding in stock.

Can you tell me which VW/Audi dealer is that? I am looking at either VW or an Audi right now. $750 is very good consider i dont have to do all those work.

There is only one local VW/Audi dealership in Kingston. ;)

I would ask at your dealership to save the hassle of driving up here.
