Today's Used Vehicle Review:
Pontiac Grand Prix, 1997-2007

Pontiac Grand Prix, 1997-20071997-2007: Among domestic sedans, the Grand Prix is one of the better ones, says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase, but "reliability has been average at best," he says.  He recommends avoiding the 3.1-litre V6 engine because of its "well-documented intake manifold gasket problems."

we had a '98 GT for 5 years, did not have any problems with it at all

A friend has a GTP and is pretty pleased with it. We got 5 guys AND their golf bags in it - the trunk is jumbo.

I had a GP GT for a rental on a couple of occasions, very enjoyable driving experience.

Ok , i just have to ask. Why do automobile journalists quote consumer reports so often? It has been recommended by them to avoid the 3.1 litre v6 for an engine with a leaky intake manifold gasket. Other than this gasket problem, the v6 line up from GM has been fairly reliable and economical to own.(yes they are kinda crude)  How can these same journalists recommend the Toyota Camry and the like powered by their 3.0 v6 which is prone to sludging and Head gasket failure. I am not defending GM and their  mistakes, but journalism should be fair, by sheer numbers i'm sure that the GM v6 is more visible in terms of repairs, but thats only because conumers purchased so many of them. All automotive manufactureres make great products, many vehicles have immediate problems, some dont have any issues until many years and KMs driven regardless of brand country of origin etc. I question consumer reports statements, how about printing statisics.

Because in CR's reliability stats, it seems like owners of Toyota's 3.0 V6 didn't have as many issues....
