I'm starting to warm up to this engine!!  I was waiting for power-ups to start coming out (a la Supra).  Well they're here.  For not alot of money, the power up kit for this engine is putting down just over 340RWHP......Starting to look like a really good bang for the buck, and in the 1 Series, that kind of power will be AWESOME!!!

I don't even think Vishnu's tuning even touches the boost either. Total monster of an engine.

Yea...when I mentioned that I was eagerly awaiting power-up results when the car was originally released, many people said that it wouldn't be possible or that the system was stressed enough already.  I knew it was a matter of time...people who love turbos just can't leave them alone!!  And yes..they added more boost, but only 2 more pounds...  340+RWHP for like $1500.  STEAL!!!!

But imagine this in the 1 Series?  YIKES!!

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I like the appearence (no M-kit) of the 123d. Hope that's what our 128i will look like.

Oh, and it was niiice to see another color besides red (for the exterior), lol!

The more I think on it, the more I come to believe that the 128i might be the better car of the 2 in the 1 Series for NA. The 128i engine is the same as the 328 and 528 engine, and that is the 230hp/200lbft one. Don't let the numbers on paper fool you, that is one strong, free-revving and torquey engine. It moves a 528 just fine, it will move the 128 better.  :)

I am starting to think I'd also prefer the 128, personally. Yes, the lower cost is a factor, but as Ovr mentioned, the 230 hp/200 lbft engine is amazing already.

This coming from a guy who was jumping all over the 335i when the G37 beat it in a Motor Trend test?  (EDIT: Road and Track?  Automobile? [/edit]).  What caused the change of heart?

By the way, this is the video of the Motor Trend 335i vs G37 shootout in case anyone's interested:

Part 1: http://www.motortrend.com/av/roadtests/112_0707_infiniti_g37_2007_bmw_335i_comparison/

Part 2: http://www.motortrend.com/av/roadtests/112_0707_infiniti_g37_2007_bmw_335i_comparison_part_2/

Both cars are freakin fantastic!

It was the Motor Trend test as the BMW beat the G in the R&T and the Automobile mags same test. 2 for BMW, 1 for Infiniti. All tests were close and the M/T test was hindered by the fact that the BMW used for the test did not have an oil cooler (they do now), and I'm sure that "cooked" it's fate as #2 in that test.  ;)

The 128i base model is just as fast as the old E46 330ci.

400 WHP ...  :fall: :fall:  could be had for under $55,000 ... oh boy ... very tempting.

In the number 2 video above, you can see the BMW shut down (i.e. go into "limp" mode) during the test itself. The testers gave a slight edge to the BMW in performance (in the written article IIRC), but gave Infiniti the win because: (1) car didn't overheat during test (their point was, what other things will the first buyers have to endure?); and (2) it was $8000 more than the G37, while the G37's performance was quite stellar in itself and very close to that of the BMW's.

I would rather have a hatchback looking like that Hartge than either of the coupes.   Don't need the monster engine, a 128 or a 123D will do fine

That thing has 450hp/480lbft in 3200 pounds!! YIkes, the article said you'd have to have racing skills to even drive it moderately well.

Think I'd pass.. ;) ;) :drive2:
