All that is required to bring any sold in Germany 3,5 or 7 series diesel to Canada is to put in the latest emissions controls on the engine and load it on the boat with the requisite spare parts. For America as well they'd need the USA labels on the idiot lights and either to give up on California/NY sales for a bit or put on the new new new emission controls.... which may not be fully certified for all cars yet.
Of course its a bit more complicated than that but not much.
US spec exterior mirrors, DOT markings on the various plastics around the lights, the US lenses on the HIDs, the big NA airbags, English manuals with the "u"s taken out of some words.
but they have all that stuff already.
The X3 diesel for Canada may be on the boat already.
