I know and understand what you are saying, but these comments relate to those of us on here who are driving-enthusiasts. That's also understandable, as that's what this site is all about. BUT, for the GREAT majority of buyers today, the addition of safety devices and driving "aids" is a very positive thing - I wouldn't want to be out there on the road with the "old cars" in the hands of the majority of today's drivers. The soccer mom on the phone, and yelling at the kids in the back needs the "lane departure prompt" to tell her that she's about to swerve into a semi.
Those that prefer the older, raw experience will just have to buy the old cars, or go with the few "raw" sports machines available today. Unfortunately, if you are not a "tinkerer" (like me), the old machines get annoying really quickly as the maintenance can be onerous.
