Not that it's a 1 Series, but I'm liking this one a lot:

I used to dislike white cars but recently there are a lot of them who look great in "boring" white.  ;D

They need to do an M1 CSL and shave some of that extra weight.

They have some more info on the various BMW websites now.  Check out bmwusa.com, they have an intro on their main page that leads to a little 1 series site with new pics and some marketing crap.

Kinda neat.

All of a sudden I have a new love interest.   :rofl2:

I still wait for the official BMW news release that a 3 series diesel is coming.... in 2008.

A seeedaaan?  Where's the sexy coupe?

Sedan is more practical, and has better/easier resale. Besides, I really like the look of the E90 sedan (I like the coupe also, don't get me wrong); but, the sedan has  classic good looks and you can haul 4 easily when you need to. Weight, length and most other dimensions are same for sedan and coupe.

'Round these parts the coupes seem to be more scarce and command a higher buck in resale.  Of course, I understand that for those 'over 50', it's easier to get into and out of the sedans with their shorter doors.  :)

Coupe doors are a pain at times
Yesterday, empty parking lot and some as-whole parks beside me over the line  into my space, the other side had 3 empty spaces , I could barely get in with having the longer doors on the 323CIC

No kidding. How can something that small weigh over 3,400 lbs?  :o

I'm also kind of disappointed to see the new turbo six in there. As nice an engine as I'm sure it is, somehow the old naturally aspirated six from the E46 M3 seems a better match for this car. It's what I'd prefer, anyway.

Just finished a survey for BMW, about 1 series
128I cost will be $32,500 to $38,000
135I cost will be $38,000 to $43,000
and they may bing the cab over

So a 128i would be 79% of the price of a 328i sedan, and a 135i would be 78% of the price of a 335i sedan, comparing no-options models?  I like that, but it sounds a little optimistic to me.

Don't worry Mitlov, it will be cheaper in the states. ;)

So how is the negotiation with the wife going? Are we talking 128 or 135?

I did the percentage calculations because, if the ratios were the same, a 128i would only cost $25,000.  That's pretty awesome.  And we'd definitely be talking 128i--I work in Medford, Oregon, not New York or San Francisco ;)

The negotiations are dead in the water, because (1) I have a $33,000 intra-family loan to pay off first, and (2) we have to come up with money for a down payment on a house.  I agree that both of these things should be done before I go out and buy myself a second toy car, particularly a Bimmer.  However, she does appear to be on board with me trading in my Legacy in a few years for a used sport sedan, provided the price is reasonable.  Something like a five-year-old TSX, IS250, G35, CTS, or 328i sedan (those are the main contenders; outside of warranty, reliability of most European marques become a risky bet).  That trade-up would hopefully cost $10,000 or less, depending on what I get, and would occur after paying off the loan but before buying a house.

I'd also consider a proper sport sedan that wasn't a luxury sedan, if it handled well enough, had a decent interior and sound system, and felt enough like a dedicated driver's car.  I have high hopes for the next Mazda6, and I'd kick myself in the nuts for a Mondeo.

My Legacy's suspension feels soggier by the day.  It's only got 14,000 miles on it.  Either it's gone downhill fast, or I didn't notice when it was new.

I bet that it takes significantly less than $10,000 to redo the Legacy's suspension so it handles like a WRC car setup for pavement.

I thought you hated FWD? Or is that my imagination amplifying your distaste...

Maybe the Legacy's suspension is only in your head. Posting on this forum can cause you to think in strange ways.

In my opinion, that would be a waste of $10,000, upgrading a Legs suspension.. :P :P

House is an appreciating asset, new car is a fast depreciating asset.  Bite the bullet and wait for the car IMHO.

P.S. Is the legacy suspension really that bad?  I was considering one in the long-term future...

Canadian prices, airb?

Was talking to local BMW store mgr today, and he figures (guessing only as he does not know yet) that a top flight 135i will be into 3 Series price territory.
