The straight six-cylinder petrol engine.
BMW engines stand for performance, power and dynamics - and the straight six petrol engine in the BMW 130i is no exception. This engine is the most powerful one in the 1 Series range, delivering 195 kW (261 bhp) with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. It's the sportiest way to enjoy the BMW 1 Series.
The four-cylinder diesel engines.
The BMW 120d makes an impression within seconds - 7.9 of them to be precise. That's how long it takes this common rail diesel to go from 0 to 100 km/h. Its 120 kW (163 bhp) and 340 Nm of torque ensure rapid acceleration and responsive performance. Athleticism and efficiency are the hallmarks of the BMW 118d. Despite its 90 kW (122 bhp), 280 Nm of torque and top speed of 201 km/h, it offers fuel consumption of just 5.6 litres per 100 km. A particle filter that complies with EU4 emissions regulations is available as an option for all diesel models.
Four-cylinder petrol engines.
Impressive torque and supreme smoothness - the hallmarks of outstanding engines are clearly evident in the BMW 1 Series. The high-performance four-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW 120i and 118i uses double-Vanos technology and Valvetronic, which reaches an output of 110 kW (150 bhp) and a top speed of 217 km/h in the 120i. Double-Vanos is also built into the responsive 116i engine, which can deliver 85 kW (115 bps) and reach up to 200 km/h.
