Just imagine if they offered a 300 HP version for $45k. 255HP is nice but lacking considering there are +/-270 HP Japanese mainstream family sedans running around out there.

"Real news comes in the way of a high-output version of the same 3.6-liter V6. It uses direct injection to help deliver 300 hp and 270 pound-feet of torque. Those may be V8-like numbers, but given that four of its competitors already offer at least 300 horses, the CTS is just keeping up."     we have a winner!

This is now near the top of my “if I were to get a new car it would be this one” list. Well done GM.

Love it, love it, love it!  Very nice progression of the design, and as said, the interior is very fine.  Glad to see they've bumped power up to a round 300 (available) now.  With the G35 and IS350 already there, it needed the boost.

The big question: will they offer it in V trim with AWD?  And with the CTS now offering a 300hp mill, will they fit the Z06 engine in the V (as rumored?).  That would truly be a -worthy car!

Though I also applaud GM update of the CTS, the exterior is only ok for me. Don't like the front that doesn't flow with the rest of the car: too low with some awkward downward angle from the 1/4 front view. Nice interior at last!

I really wouldn't drool over the possibility of Z06 engine in the CTS. The current CTS-V has significant concerns reported by several magazine long-term tests and GM has allegedly not completely addressed the CTS-V drivelines issues. Fitting the Z06 engine would just make it worse.

The hood seems to slope quite a bit from the A-pillar to the grille. That looks a bit too economy carish (at least in pictures) for me to cheer too much. The lower section of the grille accentuates this. I want to see this car "in the sheetmetal" before passing judgment. I like the interior and 300hp sounds great to me .

By driveline issues do you mean the failing differential, which I have also read about? IIRC I read that there were a couple of aftermarket companies that were selling parts to remedy this. :-\

Ah... but Snowpants, will that engine be available with anything other than a slushbox transmission?  The base model CTS now has the stickshift, but if I recall correctly, the bigger-engine one (V-model notwithstanding) does not.

2 years from now, a CTS w/ 300, a stick shift and GM's massive discounts could make for a really good value.

On GM Canadian website it shows a 6 mt
Once thing about the Caddy improvements is it is alot easier to find a Caddy dealership in smaller towns
Port Hope has a Caddy dealer in a town of 15,000 which is only 10 km from Cobourg
Close BMW dealer is 80 km away

Yes. I also read about a loud clunk issue under heavy acceleration that may be caused by the rear bushings.

They may not go the Z06 engine, they may go with a *supercharged* Z06 engine!

I love the way this car looks inside and out...  interior looks very Acura'ish... maybe it'll be time to replace the Elantra soon  ;D

I'm confused about the complaints about the rear door.  I'm looking at the profile of rear doors on the 3-series and the new C-Class, and they don't appear to offer significantly more head clearance.  I think it just looks like more because of the curved line of the door (instead of the straight line.

That metal V on the seat sure seems like a bad idea, though.  I think it would drive me nuts on a long drive.  Aren't Caddys supposed to be comfortable?
