2007 Hyundai ElantraThe newly redesigned Hyundai Elantra is 30 mm wider and 65 mm taller than its predecessor, says Paul Williams. "The interior is so roomy that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies it as a mid-size car, rather than a compact," he reports.  However, the Elantra is actually 20 mm shorter overall, so it's still easy to park. It's a good value too, says Williams. "The GL with air and automatic transmission goes for $17,495," he says.     More...

Why are you following the footsteps of Toyota Canada? WHY?

Side and curtain airbags are available ONLY on GL Comfort Plus and GLS!

Corolla also forces people to choose the highest trim ($25,000?) to get extra airbags.

Learn from Hyundai USA. It offers those airbags as STANDARD on every single 2007 model, including the lowly ACCCENT!!!!

The 2007 Mazda3 and the Civic have them as standard on all trims as well in Canada.

Please learn from Mazda & Honda Canada!

The interior looks nice from pics, the exterior is not for me at all, the wheels and wheel well effect reminds of when the basic Echo only had 13" tires, this car looks dated.

This looks like a desirable product. The swoopy side accent is something I could also do without. It looks like two different levels of climate controls are shown. Dials are much more practical for an aoutomobile, preferably with a tactile feel to them (like early Sables had). Once familiar with that kind of control it required little visual input and therefore less distraction from driving. The dials shown here do not seem to have a tactile feel other than that ok. The microwave touch style display, or push buttons, is always going to require more attention from the driver. Attention that should be given to the road ahead. That aspect deffinately a no no for me but it looks like rotating dials can be selected.

What I don't get about the picture of the "microwave" controls is that presumably that's the digital climate control that one would expect on the GLS model.  However, one of the other interior shots (the cross-section one) shows a tan leather interior... but with the manual knobs for the climate control.  I thought only the GLS had the leather?  ???

I also think the swoopy side accent is tacky. Ruins the look of the car. And unfortunately Hyundai seems to be the next auto maker in line to abandon orange rear turn signals  :banghead:

Interior is nice though.

That shot is obviously from Hyundai...  could well be an option in another market.

This nearly looks like a hatch already.

The normal HVAC looks very well designed, the digital looks cool but the visual is very dinky. Hard to see for many older folks I'm sure - I do like the 'ice block' Toyota-like buttons for it tho.

The character line down the side sort of mimicks the outgoing and current Santa Fe. I like the front, rear, and interior of the vehicle, but the line down the side and the D-pillar treatment are sort of questionable. The D-pillar design should offer more rear headroom, but sat in it and I don't remember being astounded. Will have to try it again.

All in all, should be a quiet, comfy, option-laden, long warranty, high quality option for those seeking transportation in a reasonable sized sedan.
