Just realized this is the longest thread with the most replies in this section.

Seems like the Rabbit has been creating a lot of buzz!

Both Rabbit and Jetta's 2.5 should up to 170 ponies, in order to foreseen what's coming up in Mazda3 2.3, Civic 1.8/CSX 2.0 and upcoming Corolla 1.8. Keeping it in 150hp would make this I-5 fell behind the competitors.

Both Rabbit, Jetta ( and Jetta wagon) should get a new common rail diesel as soon as possible, (2008 model year)  the BHP figure is less important than a big torque number... like 184 to 236lb ft like the euro diesels now offered, then dump the slushbox and get DSG for an automatic carefully tuned gearing and shiftpoint wise to take advantage of the diesel.
Bring in the Touran as a people carrier to compete against the Mazda 5

This ought to give VW a great range,  60+mpg and effortless auto driving in reasonable sized cars with a good upward path to the Passat.  And the Toureq as an upgrade from the Touran... maybe change some names!
The most radical revolutionary will become a conservative the day after the revolution.

Would you know or anyone else out there what accessories are avaliable for the Rabbit? I have looked on both vw.ca/.com and they only show accessories for the old GTI/Golf model...

Also, is it possible to have  the back bumper match the rest of the car with out getting the spoiler package?? How much would this one part cost?

Thanks again. I'm almost at the point of signing papers..just trying to go over the details. Hopefully Nov 2nd, I'll be driving around in one. Yea!! Yea!!

The accessories for the older generation and newer generation cars are mixed together. There's not much for Rabbit specifically at this point. What kind of stuff are you after? For wheels, anything Jetta 2005.5+ or Golf/Rabbit/GTI 2006.5+ fits the new Rabbit. I'm thinking of getting the Namib 16"ers mounted on Winter tires myself.

I'd just get the dealership to paint your rear valance for you (or search around). If you buy the skirt package or the rear valance with diffuser (an easy $650) they still have to paint it for you anyway, so might as well just get the original part painted.

The side molding stripes on the 2 door and the rear bumper on both cars are of similar texture, the paint might easily peel.
I have a custoemer who wanted to paint the stripes on his 2 door, but "parts department" would have to order smooth surface ones for him.

Yes, the textured plastic is a bugger. I think there are some durable methods tho... or is it just a 3 year jobber and then would have to be redone? Trying to keep costs down... the accessory parts are pricey.

Question for ya, how much are the Rabbit's really going for right now. I have a friend who knew someone at VW and they said that he could only sell it to me for the List price, no discount. Being a VW lover and really only going for the Rabbit cause of the hatch (space) rather then the engine (would go Jetta 2.0T) if that was the case)....is there any way I can get the Rabbit cheaper then list??
Also, that dealer didn't have any Golf diesels left and told me that there were no new Silver Golf diesels left so that, that wasn't an option for me either.

Can you help me out?

Lease term 48 months. 25,000 klms, nothing down (giving my Jetta 1.8t in for the Rabbit), all options except the rear air bags (never have anyone in the back anyhow) Residual at $13,500 approx, at 53%....now does it sound right or can I get it cheaper

WITH THE TRADE IN? Unless you have 500,000km on that Jetta.
You've got hosed gal, you got hosed!
Try $423/month without the trade.

Maybe I'm over reacting a bit.
Were you leasing your current Jetta?

MT or AT, I'll have to calculate tomorrow.
You can always get a lower price if you want to, but by how much?
