Hey, I like the goofy graphics. At first I thought you were talking about the city signaling stuff on Pg 20.

The ground effects kit is available as an accessory, but not a port installed option which is unfortunate. It's also expensive! I don't know how they get away with most of the photos being of cars accessorized either - it is misrepresenting the product in my eyes too. The brochure is nice and bright, but I find it repeats itself (and not just the 5th door page) and isn't quite meaty enough.

What if you set the control at 22C and it is 19C outside with a humidex of 28C?  :P

I wonder if any car a/c system can do this?   you'd have to cool to 15 or lower  and then reheat to 22.   There might be some danger of freezing the system.  I guess I would expect that in a Maybach or a Roller...I wonder..

My house unit has integrated humidity control for a/c , that is you can set a humidity level rather than a temperature but it does not automatically reheat unless I actually select heat on as well as A/c.

On the topic of automatic car a/c I'd settle for one with two set points.   Heat below setpoint 1 and a/c above setpoint 2    and internally force the two points to be say 4 deg apart.   sooo in TO climate I could set point 1 to say +12 deg and point 2 to + 20 deg and then I'd never touch it again

The Phaeton had a dehumidifier as part of its climate control system.

All cars with AC do.  When you use the AC system, part of the result of the operation is the removal of moisture from the air.

Exactly. That is why I use A/C MUCH more in the winter than I do in summer. I nice 90 minute walk in the pouring rain with a long-haired dog can make for a pretty moist car environment. A/C on high sorts things out quite well. Without A/C, I'd have to drive blind.

But will this system also turn the heat on to warm the air up, if it is cold out

When I turn defrost on, my A/C doesn't come on. But if I turn A/C on in conjunction, I can vary the temperature coming out the vent to warm to be able to use A/C year-round.

Really?  You sure?  VW would be one of the only ones.  Honda/Toy/Mazda/GM/Ford they all put the A/C on with the heat.  Sometimes the light doesn't turn on though.

I don't know about in the new one, but my '01 didn't. Agree with most models they do turn on automatically now tho.

Researching these damn VW products ( Golf, Rabbit,Jetta, GTI) on VW.ca.

Looks as if you cannot get DSG on a rabbit or a 2.5l Jetta ...unless the site is wrong )

Looks like you can't get xenon lights on a rabbit either and on a Jetta, only with the 2.0 turbo

having had two cars now with Xenons I dont think I'll buy another car without them  and I might buy a dsg gearbox but I will not buy a slushbox.

sooooo I guess its a GTI 5 door then...or wait a year and see if VW come to their senses and produce a

rabbit bluetec( or whatever tech they decide to use)  diesel with dsg and xenons as options.... which would be perfect...even if it costs the same as a GTI

Wing, you're right - the Defrost setting now turns on my A/C.

TPL, you're reading right. The only DSG Tiptronic is on Jettas with TDIs and 2.0Ts (does not have paddle shifters tho on either, but does have them on the Jetta GLI coming soon)

HIDs are only on 2.0T cars - optional on 2.0T, std on GTI and GLI. Really though, the HIDs are easy to install on a Rabbit or Jetta and that alone isn't a good reason to step up to a GTI/GLI over a Rabbit/Jetta 2.5. Huge price difference.

I imagine they will still be badged TDIs, regardless of technology underneath. It's VAG's trademark diesel moniker and is well-known.

Actually SirA   I dont mind the idea of a 5 door GTI as is will have what I want.... but for some bizarre reason Ont Insce Co's seem to hate those three letters  G T and I on a VW.

And I have the option of just keeping the BMW until VW see reason!    As I said, what I REALLY want is a Golf GTD  with the 150 BHP tdi.... but I am sure that there will be a PowerBox available for the first Bluetec Golf    ;D

Got my Rabbit today
6speed auto with sunroof and 16" alloy
but I didn't get ESP or the heated seat/6cd package

I am kinda disappointed in the single cd headunit
it doesn't support mp3 and no aux outlet in the glove compartment like the 6cd package
and I am worry I wont be able to put in an ipod adapter for it

as for the car itself...
it is pretty good, the ride is smooth on the highway
the finish is superb

I wish they come out with some accessories soon
I could use some roof rack or a bike rack

guess I will have to wait till the canadian dealers get them.

Congrats BOS! What colour, 3 or 5dr, and where did you purchase from? Do post some photos!

I think there should be roof rack attachments now. Here's the ones for the GTI which would be the same for the Rabbit:

It's the US site, but the dealer should be able to use the same part number and get Cdn pricing for you.

Have you tried an MP3 CD in your single-CD head unit? As far as I know, it SHOULD work. Sometimes the brand of CD-RW and CD-R can affect this. (Note the US Jetta VE has the Cdn base head unit)

The car looks great - thanks for posting the photos. That's the first time I've seen the mud-flaps on the Rabbit.

Congrats once again
