2007 Toyota Camry LE 4-cylinder

2007 Toyota Camry LE 4-cylinderSomewhat surprisingly, 78% of Camrys sold in Canada have the base 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, reports Editor, Greg Wilson.  In the redesigned 2007 Camry, "the four-banger is still the best value," he says.  "In fact, with today's higher gasoline prices, the four-cylinder model may have more appeal than before," he notes.     More...

2007 Camrys are also offered in the sporty SE trim (4-cylinder $26,605; V6 $32,010), which offers a few mechanical and interior upgrades to make it even sportier;

The SE 4 cylinder base comes in manual 5 speed for $26,605.  The SE 4 cylinder in auto is $27950; $2150 more than the base LE which comes in automatic only.  Good article.

This car is a big time winner, Toyota has re-written the rules once again!  Did not take long to see them on the road either.  Altima promises equally, should prove an interesting match up.

Is it just me or am I the only one here who finds the Camry looks like the late 90's version
of said car mixed with the latest generation Hyundai Sonata! The results I'm sure will be a sure
hit with the grey panther set and will do nothing to attract younger buyers to this car.

Actually, I've started to notice that lately. It seems like this car should've been the predesecor or the 1999 Camry. But I still think it looks decent. I don't understand how the SE 4 cylinder can have a 5 speed stick and the LE can't.

What's your definition of younger? The SE model gets markedly firmer suspension than the other models, which I think may attract some younger (read: 30-somethings) to at least try the Camry SE if they're shopping for, say, an Altima or Mazda6.
I used to work here.

Because LE is markets to those who are looking for good value with necessary options, SE markets to more sporting crowd.

I suppose, but does not the base Accord come with a stick? That alone would head me to a Honda dealership if I were comparing those two models.

But Accord doesn't have a sporting equivalent to Camry SE. TSX is another segment vs IS250 though.

Yeah but I'm comparing the base Accord with the Camry LE.

Sure, Toyota will probably lose a few buyers to Honda because of the lack of manual tranny in the most basic trim, but Toyota will probably gain as many back because they offer a more sporting model with a manual. In order to get a "sporty" Accord, you have to move up to the V6, where you're stuck with an automatic, unless you go for the EX-V6 MT coupe, but it's $10,000 more expensive than the Camry SE manual.

Great price, and you know its going to be reliable, but once again it's a flop in exterior design, and I would not even consider buying a car with such a cheap looking interior.  Like other Camry's, this car will only appeal to those who want to get from point A to point B reliably, and don't care about how.  Those that enjoy driving, being in their cars, and making them look good, they will be tired of this in less than a week.  My 5-year old son's Cosy Coupe must be built by Toyota as well.

Base price XLE $37,425  that's a lot $'s for a Japanese Buick.

Design characteristics show similarities to its overseas (Europe) cousin  Avensis http://www.toyota.ee/media/global/images/showroom/avensis/gallery/800/ave_03_gal_23_800x600.jpg

Much better interior design, more refined. Seat material needs some work.

I can see why the 4 cylinder models"78% of all Toyota Camrys (2002 to 2006 models) were sold with the four-cylinder engine rather than the V6, according to Toyota Canada "  are out selling the V6 just because of the  price gap.

The Camry customer is older, but seems many younger families are buying up the used Camry's.

Sure Toyota will sell boat loads.

The Camry is gawd awful ugly let's face it...if it was not for Toyota's reputation for reliability
it would languish on dealer lots believe me...
