Yes! debuts updated Roadster at Leipzig Motor Show
Posted Apr 1st 2006 10:03AM by Stuart Waterman
Filed under: Convertibles, Sports/GTs, Euro

Built in Germany by Funke and Will AG, the handbuilt Yes! Roadster is something of a mini-supercar. Introduced at the 2003 Frankfurt show, the Roadster shows off its 2006 mechanical systems upgrades at this year's Leipzig auto show.

Weighing it at less than 2,200 lb, the Yes! Roadster is bound to provide sparkling performance regardless of the powerplant, but the second-generation model takes no chances, sporting Audi's 3.2-liter V6 in either normally-aspirated or turbo versions. The turbo pumps out 355 hp and about 360 lb-ft of torque, good for 0-62 mph in 3.69 seconds. For the truly power-hungry, Yes! plans an option kit for the turbo model to boost output by an additional 30 hp. The mid-engine Yes! Roadster drives the rear wheels through a six-speed box. Prices start at about $72,000.

Looking a bit like a cross between Toyota's last version of the MR2 and Audi's TT, the styling of Germany's answer to the Lotus lightweight performance theme may not appeal to everyone, but for a small sports car, performance always comes first, and the Yes! pocket rocket looks like it will certainly deliver.

A very attractive car indeed, do I also see some BMW Z-series look in there as well? Will this be built?

Not bad at all. Agressive looking with a bit of Honda and Mazda thrown in and the back end looks rather bold.

Uh, what's not to like?  It's SMOKIN' HOT to look at, can run with a 911TT and has no roof.

It would look stellar in black. Excpet only if it had the appropriate red and orage lenses for the tail lights instead of the clear lenses. Sweet car for sure.

I don't suppose they are importing it here? Imagine a less expensive version with say an S2000 engine...

Bet they could sell 500 or 10 is it was under $60K Canadian...

No top, who cares, shouldn't drive cars like this unless it's 20 celsius and sunny!

Looks alot like the Sky... down to the red logo too. I guess where this thing is built the streets are potholes, speed bumps and driveway incline free.  ::)

It's coming....

Coming to America! YES! 3.2 Roadster

GROSSENHAIN, Germany, January 28/PRNewswire/ -- The YES! Roadster 3.2 will be on display during the 100th Chicago Autoshow from February 6th to February 17th 2008. We are looking forward to welcoming on the exhibition stand SH34 in the South Hall.

The overwhelmingly positive response from media, customers, experts and business partners reflects the great interest of the public in the puristic lightweight and proves once again the successful implementation of this concept, true to the motto: PURE DRIVING PLEASURE.

Due to the equally positive feedback from America, Funke & Will AG has extended distribution of the YES! Roadster 3.2 to North America and Canada this year. For this purpose the company has founded YES! North America Inc.

The current model is equipped with a 3.2ltr V6 motor. With its 255 hp, the 890 kg two-seater can accelerate to 60 m/h in just 4.8 seconds and gives you the driving pleasure typical of the YES!. If that's not enough for you, set your sights on the YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo. With this turbo version, Funke & Will advance into the realm of super sports cars. Thanks to an exhaust gas turbocharger, the same original aggregate yields 355 hp, catapulting the driver of the merely 930 kg roadster from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 175mph. A specially developed rear spoiler ensures the necessary downforce to keep the 355 hp safely on the road. If more power is required there is an option for a 415bhp upgrade pushing the YES! Roadster 3.2 turbo almost to the majic 200mph barrier.

In either guise the YES! Roadster 3.2 and Turbo offers supreme handling with almost supercar performance in the 3.2 Turbo. With comfort levels that make the car and everyday option and a generous choice of optional extras from heated seats to high quality satnav.

A select group of dealers are to be anounced at the end of Febuary which will service North America from the east to the west coast with additional dealers appointed in Canada.

See.... no wing!   but what looks like a diffuser at the rear. ( see Evo thread)

I bet that thing grips like crazy and when  it does break away you'd need to be a Shumacher to get it straight again.
