Wing, do I intend to AutoX it this year?  Yes.  Although the replacement cost on those 255/35/18 Runflats does give me a cause for concern.   :-\

Get a 'regular' set of sticky tires on some cheap alloys for track use. This way you save those expensive runflats.  :D

I agree, although I am far from an expert. I do not think I would Auto-X on RFTs due to their cost, but also due to the extremely stiff sidewalls. I would certainly do some research on the issue before Auto-Xing it.

When I was auto-x'ng I was on a very tight budget so I used sticky street rubber that were at or beyond their TWIs.  Extra set of alloys from the junkyard, too.

Some good ideas here guys, thanks.  The trick will be getting another set of alloys / tires in the garage without my wife noticing.   :-X ;D

I just hide them behind the piles and piles of tires and she doesn't notice I bought yet another set.

Ha ha... but you've got a bigger garage than I do and she doesn't park in your garage.  :)

Well, you could the "never-ending" garage cleanup by rearranging all the things in the garage several times over the next month or so, then once the confusion has set in, introduce quietly the new wheels/tires and see if anyone notices..... ;) ;) ;)

Or you could take advanage of most BMW dealers offer to store your extra set of wheels/tires so wife doesn't really know how many you have then. My dealer stores my extras for me for $250/year which includes both the Spring and Fall changeovers in the price.

Or, you could just tell her the truth, and take your chances. If it's already a done deal, you may get a tongue lashing and that's it.  ;) ;D ;D

Indeed... but how many times can you play that one out?  I did it last fall with "my" tv and I still hear about it everytime she wants to buy something frivolous.   >:(

Anyhoo... I've got a few months to let the dust settle.

Anyone need some video production or TV shows done?  If I make enough money she won't care.  :)

Well, inspired first by Bullet_Blue's 128i acquisition, then Quad getting the GTI, I thought it was time to change things up in my garage too.

The MX-5 will soon be returned a few months early to Mazda and today I picked up her replacement... a CPO '06 330i.  Sparkling Graphite Metallic on black Dakota leather.  Sport Pkg.  I took delivery with the snow tires / wheel pkg (17"), but will likely swap on the 18"s for next weekend and take (then post) some better pics then.

For now, a few 'teasers'...

Fantastic!!! Another e90 owner on the board. Vee vill haf all your garages. :D

I myself moved from club mazda to club teuton. Congrats on being back in the dark side.  :pimp:

Congratulations she's a beauty.

Just say the tires are for the swing you're building for the future kids.  :D

With my luck, she'd "take some initiative" and build it herself one day while I was out, using one of my good runflats!   :o

I think that would involve hiring Just Bob to do the photo shoot first.  :)

Congrats on the purchase!
