And, the modding is now complete.

Snow tires and tints done.  That's it.  No more money except service and fuel for this thing.

Nice

Tint on a short term lease though?

Got to have it regardless.  I have colour match door strips installed on my leasers.  That's a $150 down the drain it might seem.

Awesome. 35% tint?

Man, the WRX looks great in so many colours. I'd personally have a hard time picking between grey, world rally blue, white, and even silver.

I remember paying close to $300 for my old Jetta, but it needed them all around.  On my Santa Fe, it was under $200, as I only needed the fronts done (rear and back were factory tinted).  I initially chose that place because it's where my local Audi/VW shop sent all their cars.  My TA at the time suggested I just call them and arrange it myself.

Quality work.

I'm reading in the WRX forums that the Cobb ECU tune smooths out driveability and increases MPG by quite a bit.

Seems worthwhile to do..
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Kiss any warranty good bye.  Be liable for any perceived damage even after you turn it back in. Hardly worth it.

Well since you can reflash the stock ECU back to "normal", there's no worries.  The only think they can tell is the ECU was cleared...like if your battery was dead or you cleared the ECU with an OBDII reader.  Most people might do either to clear a check engine light.

From Cobb:

Our version 2 and version 3 Accessports back up the ECU's entire original ROM (contains all the engine code and tuning data) before it installs and then restores that entire original ROM when you run the uninstall function from the main menu, thus restoring the ECU to its original state. Like any other ECU reflash (or car battery disconnect or OBD II reset), this will also reset the ECU (see #2).

2. The ECU does track mileage - this has nothing to do with nor does it impact your odometer reading (it is more analogous to your trip A/B functions). Certain OBD parameters use this running mileage calculation to show, for example, miles since diagnostic trouble codes were cleared which a dealership could check to infer when the last ECU reset occurred (among other parameters not related to mileage). An ECU reset occurs whenever you disconnect the car's battery, reset ECU via OBDII scanner, or reflash a map to the ECU. For the Accessport, an ECU reset would occur whenever there is a non-realtime map change - install, uninstall, or change to a different map. Same is true of other Subaru reflash solutions - whenever a different map is reflashed (whether that is stock map or not). So, via these OBD parameters, a dealership can determine that you recently reset the ECU, but not that it was specifically due to reflashing back to the original stock map (it could be that you just disconnected the battery for example).

Yea!!  I like it too.  I think I was the only one in the group at the NAIAS that said anything nice about it.

That's the one.  They were great -- had it recommended to me by my brother.  Such service is rare these days -- the owners seem to not only enjoy what they're doing, but enjoy having customers too.  $299+tax.

Tints on a short term lease are a cash waste, for sure, but I like the appearance so much more and I like the relative privacy too.

Railton, the wheels are the stock wheels.  Tires are Hankook iPikes picked up from the local TireCraft store.  I priced them out online from the States and by the time I factored in the shipping, my time, potential for duty, install, plus the exchange rate, etc., it was a virtual wash for cost.  The local guy has good prices, but he's as friendly as a bag of cobras.

No Weather Tech mats, no.  It's a lease, if it has a few salt stains when it goes back, I won't care.

Rrocket, don't start with the AP please!  My brother has had great success with his.  Plus, if as you say, it smooths out the power delivery AND improves efficiency?  Hooo boy... that'll be tough to pass up.  I'd love to be able to cure the rev-hanging between shifts.

I understand not getting the $150 ones, but they have another line, that isn't exact for your model, a little more universal.  Still better than the ones at Canadian Tire.  They are $69.  I need to have rubber ones in the winter.

In the other 2015 WRX thread I had moaned a bit about the fuel consumption of my Rex.  After several hundred kms, I'm now a little less concerned.  I'm averaging around 9.8L / 100 km with likely a 2/3 skew to city driving, and that's with the snow boots on the car now too, so I can live with that.

In other news, I'm not sure I made the right choice for my snow tires.  I picked up some Hankook iPike RS (W419) in the OEM size.  They're supposed to be a performance snow tire, but geez, they make the car float and wander around on those squishy tread blocks far more than the old Continentals I had on the Bimmer.  Hopefully they'll prove unstoppable in the snow.

You need to go faster, and wear them down a mm or two...
