Nice pics.  A tripod can be your best friend.  :)

Nice pics.  A tripod can be your best friend.  :)

So can a better camera and a better photographer.  I had neither with me.  Not that leaving a camera on a tripod, with the timer on, in the middle of the street is a wise practice anyway.  :)

Incidentally, I wish I could get a pic of about 20 metres further down the road where it does a complete hairpin and starts winding down the escarpment... but unfortunately, there are no safe spots to stop and shoot there.

Especially with maniacs in A4s taking the hairpin at lunacy speeds...

How about taking Wing and his 5D with you next time?  :)

Because my brother his 5D lives several hours closer.  I'll get him to snap some shots next time, just for you Spock.  ;)

Dave, you're right about those maniacs in the A4's.  Luckily, we won't be seeing that around these parts again any time soon.  That poor Disco driver is probably still having a heart attack.   :-X ;)

Next time in an M6?   8) ;D

...couple of pics from the HADA event yesterday.

The bad news:  I believe I was (by far) the slowest Miata there.  Of course I also think I was the only one not running R-compounds.

The good news:  When I last checked the times, I had beat the yellow '04 S2000 and the copper 350Z and my last run was still more than a full second quicker.  I'm slowly learning this whole AutoX thing...  :)

M6?  So the old man bought it?

Just ordered it last Monday.  M6 with a manual!  Colours haven't been picked yet as he is still waiting for "Individual" samples...but it will likely be a blue-black on brownish leather.

They also ordered the RX330 replacement...a 535XiT (M sport package - M5-like skirts, 18" M wheels, premium, tech, etc.).  Also waiting to see some "Individual" options.

They should both arrive sometime in July.  I'll post pics and review then.

Jeff, looks like a good event.  How'd your times compare to last years HADA event?

Hey!  Put this in your own thread, ya bum!   ;)

Dave the times are irrelevant since it's a completely different 'track' layout.  The important thing is that my times improved steadily throughout the day (and I'm not afraid of power-on oversteer anymore, ha ha).

Haha, sorry...but MdX5 asked.

I wish I could have made this event but duty called.  Any familiar faces there?  (ie., Accents making a mockery...puke green M3s...)

Hey, when it comes to an M car.....we make exceptions.  ;)

Thanks Dave...I hope there's going to be a full Show and Shine thread dedicated to the new additions.

Dave, some usual suspects there.  Here are some pics:  http://picasaweb.google.com/hoppe99/HadaAutoslolam1

No evil Accents though.  But I believe a sponsored first-gen Toyota Echo was posting some impressive times!  I couldn't believe the amount of oversteer he was able to get in that thing -- must've really pumped up the rear tire pressures.

It probably was.  :)  I'm not sure where that shot was taken, but it looks like it might be the start of the slalom, and I definitely came into it too hot.  That was the section I improved on my next run and shaved more than a second.   :)

Found a few more pics of the day (for you to criticize) today...
