195/65/R15 in place of 195/60/R15

Hi,

I was looking for used steel rims and I found decent 195/65/R15  snow tires on them. I have Sentra with 195/60/R15. Should I buy new snow tires with exact size or these tires can be used?

Thanks,
goyal

there's a 3.2% difference in rolling speed (according to our trusty 'ole tire calc http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html)

when your speedo says 60kph, in reality you're running 61.9kph

not too big a difference.  if you mostly drive alone, no problem IMO.  at any time you need to drive your sentra full of passengers or cargo, just keep in mind that your bigger tires are adding more strain to the engine.

Why not get a perfect fitting set of winters?

The calc is absolute, but manufacturers all have different specs, so you might be a little lower or higher depending what you choose. IMO I would go with the stock size as there is lots of selection and then you are guaranteed to not have any ABS or rubbing issues. If you want you can run a 185/65/15 to get a little narrower track and there are quite a few options in this size as well.
