Remember the Atom? A super fun track car, but illegal for public roads.

Well it looks like there is a better equivalent:

There was an article about the T-Rex in the paper this morning.  Looks like an automotive equivalent to a sport bike.

If I had some extra dough lying around, one of these would be nice for the dry open roads.  Safer than a motorcycle and just as fun.  Legal on public roads too!

Damn! Looks like it's fun as hell!

With only 1 rear wheel and the inability to lean to the sides like a motorcycle, it makes me wonder how stable that thing is on the twisties though.

At least you have one in Ontario. We've got none here in BC.

That thing has been around for years in the states ... it's more a speed bike than a car.  It has a Kawasaki engine ... so you should be able to get it at any Kawasaki dealership!

A 1200cc bike engine is pretty weak compared to a suped up Honda Civic engine.

I would hardly call 0-60 in 4.1 out of the box weak. A suped up Honduh would have a hard time against my wife’s Highlander.

For your info, it has been in Canada way before the US.

The T-Rex is made in the province of Quebec! Guess when??!!! 1994!!!

I hope there's a few in Quebec ... the company's plant in Plessisville, Quebec... I just meant to say that I saw them in the states a few years ago and it's sold for around 50 000$.

"Chairman Michel Baril announced the planned opening of 5 new dealers across Canada. Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City and Halifax are the targeted cities, as John Scotti Automotive is selling the T-Rex in Montreal already and will assure the distribution of vehicles in Canada. Also, at least 10 new dealers in the United States in 2005 and 10 more in 2006 will should start selling the T-Rex."

I would still go for an Ariel "car" instead of a fancy three-wheeler

Honda iVTEC 4 cylinder - 220 BHP - 6 speed             456 kg         0-100 km in 3.4 seconds
vs.
Kawasaki 1200cc inline 4 - 140 HP - 6 speed             410 kg         0-100 km in 4.2 seconds

I would too if the Ariel were legal on our roads.

Then there is always the Super 7 GSX 1300R, and it's made in sunny B.C.

Some lucky guy around here has a T-Rex. I see it once in a while on the road between Kanata and Almonte. I'll take a street-legal "fancy 3-wheeler" ahead of a track-only "car" anytime. I think the T-Rex is licenced as a motorcycle. The driver always has a helmet on.
