« on: October 12, 2005, 11:17:50 pm »
Other than it will use the 2.0 i-VTEC with 155HP (SAE) which is shared in the RSX premium.
And will have the same body styling as the Japan Civic.

Any other info?
2011 MB C300 4Matic (Tenorite Grey)
2010 MB C300 4Matic (Iridium Silver)
2002 VW Jetta 1.8T GLS Sport Luxury Leather package

Yes!  :o
A 4 door RSX is what to expect.

Same 2.0L i-vetc engine
Made in Japan
Less expensive than a TSX
Lower insurance than RSX
+2 doors for convience

I like!  :)

I think it will be a dresssed up 06 4 door Civic EX with the same motor that was in the SIR (2 litre DOHC 155hp)  Question is will the manual be a 6 speed?

Actually, it's going to be the exact same as the JDM Civic sedan, as seen above dressed up in a Mugen bodykit.  That means different front and rear end from the CDM/USDM Civic.  A few guys at vtec.net were in a focus group done by Acura on teh new CSX and got to see it first hand.  Ontop of the leather, etc... It has optional NAVI and HIDs.

As for the engine, it's from teh same family as the K20 in the SIR, but it's actually the identical motor as in the base model RSX - 155 hp @ 6500 rpm (SAE net Rev 8/04) and  139 lbs.-ft. @ 4000 rpm.

Not a screamer, but I think it's a good choice... Better all around drivability then the 1.8L in the Civics, due to more low end torque with higher top-end HP.

However, there is some dissagreemnet on the price... Some are hearing a near $30k base, and $36 with leather and NAVI... That doesn't make much sense with the current TSX prices, but apparently the TSX is being fazed out in the next two years (when the all-new Accord platform arrives), and Acura is going to move the EL (CSX) upscale a bit, hence the significant price increase.

Also, they realize that the EL cannabalized higher-end Civic sales with the present setup, so appareantly they hope to stop that by bringing the EL (CSX) upmarket, and phazing out the TSX.

Makes business sense to me, so I'd wager on the price being <$30k.

Fuurther proof of this can be found on the vtec.net forums, where those focus group people I mentioned previously stated that the prices they were shown were >$30k base.

Phasing out the TSX?  That would be a bad move IMO, the CSX will be small and the TL is too big.  I see tons of TSX's around and think it's the perfect size and package at a great price.  I think they sold more than originally anticipated as well.

Yeah it will be a bad move. I remember seeing Acura reports having TSX as their top selling cars for a few months in the summer. I doubt they are going to phase out the TSX.

I think prcing would be similar to the "RSX premium" structure.

Around $30000 with sunroof, alloys and leather standard.
So about $5000 less than the TSX and $10,000 less than the TL.

Do you think the CSX HID headlight system will be compatable with the new Civic Si?

Since the CSX will still essentially be a rebadged Civic with more HP and more toys, I would be shocked to see it priced north of $30K... Since a top o' the line Civic EX Automatic is only $23K, I can't see them charging $7000 more for leather, 15 horsepower, and Navi... I'm thinking more like $24K base, going up to maybe $28.5K loaded. In Canada the CSX is crucial to Acura to get people into their showrooms, and if the public thought they would have to pay over $30K for a Civic based car I think it would be tough sledding for them...

oh and the TSX isn't going anywhere, it is the exact same car Honda sells as the Accord in Japan and Europe. It will continue on until the Accord redesign in 2 years, probably be redesigned itself a year later.

the TSX needn't worry.  It'll be gold soon enough.

I also think the $24,500 for the base model in manual.

Auto will have paddle shifters.

Manual must be 6 speed because the 5 speed blows with that motor. :)
