Just purchased a brand new 2005 Honda Accord EX-L about a month ago. Winter's coming on and after 30 years or so of switching all-season for winter tires on existing rims on the cars I have owned, I'm being told by one and all to buy winter rims so as not to damage the mags. As well, the cost of winter rims will be less expensive than swithcing tires twice a year after x number of years
Over the years, I've seen these ugly winter rims on so many beautiful cars and understand the owner's rationale in preserving the looks of the mags. However, I've had mags on the last two vehicles cars I've owned - Pontiac Bonneville (kept for 8 years) and Transport Van (11 Years) - and did not see the mags damaged after all these tire changes.
I love the looks of my new Accord
WITH the mags ... however, maybe I'm missing something (it's happened before
) and would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
