The IS 250 alloys look better than the 350's to me, and very much like the Jetta Vision accessory wheels.

So... lemme get this straight:  the reasonably priced $36,300 IS250 becomes an insanely priced $46,000 IS250 if I simply want the Sport Suspension and larger wheels?  Ventilated power passenger seats are part of a "SPORT" package?!

BMW's pricing structure seems to make a hell of a lot more sense to me!  What a shame.  Not having a stick-shift IS350 is a bad move too.  While I do understand that only a fraction of the sales are for the stickshift models, it's purchase influencers such as us "experts" on this site that people turn to when seeking advice on their next car.  If they say they want something "sporty" in their entry level sedan, right or wrong, the 3-series or even an A4 would be a more immediate choice.

Some stand-alone options - even like 4-5 key ones, would be what this car needs.

I think that the pics are labeled wrong. The first one looks like the 250 and the red one looks like the 350, judging by the alloys alone.

As a current IS300 owner I was really looking forward to the new version and had high hopes it would cure some of the cars shortfalls.

I would be in the market for a 250AWD, however, like many on this forum find the pricing moronic. I can't believe I have to spend $50,000 to get HID lights! The equipment in the luxury package really should be found in the premium package.

The other major shortfall is the size. My IS is tiny and I felt even more cramped in the 2005. The windshield seems small and overall it makes for a causterphobic cabin. The rear seats are a total joke. I am not expecting TownCar like proportions, but the fact that the rear seat is basically unusable basically ruled this car out for me.

I know there is a market for small, sport sedans but if they had been able to stretch it a bit, it would certainly appeal to more people.

My last gripe is the cup holder...but lets not go there.

Oh well, back to the drawing board...

Lexus won't outwardly discount. What they'll do is research the sales, and repackage the car. They won't stand to be embarrassed, and won't tarnish their image here. They will take note and make the appropriate changes to be more competitive.

So you have an IS 300 SportCross? Those are a rare, rare bird!!!  :o

I've had the pleasure of driving a few IS's and have to say that while yes, the interior is mighty small (the rear seats less rear leg room than my Golf!) the car seems to somehow 'fit' me well. Those perforated ultra-suede seats gripped the body, and once driving the body pillars of the car seemed to not bother me much anymore. It's the somewhat hard plastics and such that turned me off the interior more than anything - and what I'm happy to see vastly improved, but yeah, it definitely needs more space.

Have any photos of your SportCross?

Yes I have only seen a couple of SportCrosses myself...

I always liked it, but found them too costly when new due to stupid option packages...so I bought it as a demo/used. I love it, its just small.

I can send pics if you like, I don't have any I will have to take some...

Want to buy it?

Nah, not interested in buying it - I just used to work at Lexus Division's corporate office and am quite familiar with the SportCross as I was there when the IS and SportCross were launched. Just don't see them often at all, so was curious.

If you manage to snap a photo, definitely post it.

If you're looking to sell, you're also looking to buy. What are you 'in the market' for?

Thanks!  :D

The base IS250 is actually priced very competitively against the base 323i. It's just the packages that are totally ridiculous. But how many people would buy the lowest trim level when they are shopping for a sports sedan?

The biggest strength the IS has over the 3-series is Lexus' reliability. I am not sure if that'd be enough for shoppers in this segment.

Seems to be true.

I just went to BMW.CA and priced out a 323i with about the same equipment levels as the Lexus IS250.

The following things were extra on the BMW that are standard on the IS.
- metallic paint $800 (!)
- six disc changer
- heated seats
- ski pass through

After all that, the price was more for the BMW.

And you are getting an 175HP engine instead of the 200HP V6

I would take the IS over the 323i.

because this car has got nothing on the new 325/330.

I'm pretty sure if you were truly in the market for a $48k 330, you'd be looking at the $49K 300HP IS350 also, not the IS250 (assuming you will buy an automatic)
