Went to Edmonton Lexus yesterday and the salesguy said they were expecting prices sometime that afternoon.  They were also expecting delivery on a pre-sold IS250 AWD yesterday.  I feel bad for the person who bought that car - it's probably here today but they still can't seal the deal till pricing is set.

Now that I look Audi has no DSg option on the a4 Quattro. LAME That would be the perfect car for you.

If you could wait I think a v6 A3 AWD with DSG is around the corner that would be a nice solution (although a little small)

My pick (mostly becuse I drove one for 3 days in a horrible rainstorm as well as nice driving weather would be the g35x.

Its probaly the fastest of the bunch. I felt the handeling was excellent. Kinda like a luxury 350z. Some thof the interior switches and textures are alittle odd. The auot tranny is very nice left on its own the maunumatic shift is pretty well useless. way too much lag. The car performs better by letting it shift itself.

Subaru is a decent package but a stup down on luxury and as a former Subaru owner i can echo the sentiment about service. Dealership experince is simply not up to Audi, Infiniti etc.

The AWD IS is going to be a SLUG (relaitivley) with only 200hp and all that weight AWD and Auto.

Thanks for all of the information...it looks as though I have a few other cars to look at which is great, namely the Mercedez AWD, didn't know the BMW had a 3 series AWD(great) and also the Jag!  Looks like I have to get out there and drive some of them to really make up my mind.

The A3 is a nice little car but only comes in 2006 with the 3.2 Quattro or 2.0T with no quattro.  The list on the 3.2 will be 47K.  It has the DSG and really is a decent little car but the price a bit out there when you look at others you can buy.  I have to put down the seats to get my golf clubs in.

I would buy the A4 Q for sure if DSG came with it.  I still love the styling of the IS though.

I called Lexus of London this morning and the new IS had just been dropped off and they will unveil the car and pricing tomorrow evening.  I am going to push the sales guy to invite me and let you know what I think...

You may want to look into the Jaguar X-Type, but I wouldn't recommend it as it feels more like an upscale Ford than a bona fide mini Jaguar. Also, the 2.5L model has been discontinued. Only a 3.0L engine remains.

Friend from a Lexus dealership just told me that the starting price for the IS250 is $36k, though you still have to add freight and PDI on top of that, and there aren't that many luxury options in the base car.

Still, that's a pretty darn good price.

If you want a car that will run like a top for the next 15 years, that IS250 would be a winner.

I was just on the Lexus site and they have prices for the options packages up now, is that new?  I didn't notice any base prices though.

Thanks for those prices!  I'm out :(  Way more than I'll spend, since I already have my RWD fun car, I can live with a FWD TSX.

The only thing worth considering is the base IS250 RWD 6Spd for $37,975.00. and at 210 hp it will be a dog. :(

IS250 AWD

E - Luxury Package with Navigation and Rear Back-Up Camera - $55,375.00

Wtf? Who on earth is going to pay 55,375.00 for 205hp midsize sedan??

Comparing to TSX 6spd
C - Premium Leather Package with Moonroof, B+ - $44,275.00 (6spd)

Thats $10,000 more than the TSX, similarly equiped.  Throw in taxes for an additional $1,400.  Thats $11,400.  I am not sure it is worth that much! RWD and the lexus badge can't be worth that much!

However.....

IS350 - RWD (duh)

A - Leather Seats, 10 way power seats w/ ventilation fan, all season tires, 17" wheels, 310HP - %50,575.00

Not bad compared to M3

:iagree: to me it's a no brainer, $34k for a TSX with everything, That's a lot of coin for the badge and RWD.

“the lexus badge can't be worth that much!”

That is what they are counting on…badge conscious buyers. The smart money will go someplace else.

It might be an interesting buy on the used market... when the car is 4 or 5 yo, as it should not move!
I agree with everybody else, 47k for the "sport package"  ::)..... get a 325i with sport package and save 5k (+4 years warranty and free maintenance, higher resale value) and shave 70-80 kg (ie almost 200 pounds).
Obviously Lexus is not going for volume here... sad  :'(
TSX hands down (200 pounds lighter) , no comparison and legacy GT.
Even a bloody A4 Quattro is a better deal!
Lexus IS250 better be priced correctly in the US (325i is 30k base) or...
The 350, on the other hand is not such a bad deal (but way too expensive for me...  :'()

To compare it against the G35 and M35 (both with X)

G35: 39,990 - 48,140
G35X: 42,890 - 49,440

M35: 55,800 - 62,300
M35X: 59,300 - 66,800

I know that both the G and M put out more HP/Tq than the IS250 but the IS350 starts at $48,900.

Who is going to be the first person to go and test one?

Hmm, not much IS love here.

We are going to be seriously considering this car come replacement time for our Audi. We wouldn't go for any of those pricey option packages, the base mode has everything we need, and I think the price is good for the base model. It's too bad the sports goodies can't be had without the luxo goodies though (typical Lexus bundling)
