Looks like the engin (2L, 155 hp) is confirmed if this report is accurate:

Honda rarely overrated their hp, so 155hp should be "real". ;D

Actually Honda took a loss on HP for a lot of it's 4 bangers with the new rating system...

I just got my 2006 Accessories binders from Acura Canada today...  CSX is definently a go for the name, but I think we all knew that...

Hey footlong,
Any good accessories for the CSX?  Can you confirm whether or not the optional 215/45-17 tire size is indeed true?

Thanks

Hi hondasalesguy!! :)

It's confusing - isn't it? The reason some honda engine hp ratings are down and some are up has to do with whether or not an engine was modified or changed in any way. For instance - the Acura TL's 3.2 litre V6 hasn't changed for 2006. And because of that - it's hp ratings are lower than they were for 2005. [258 vs 270] Both Accord engines [on the other hand] HAVE been improved - that is why their hp ratings are UP. If Honda kept to the old way of figuring out hp - the 2006 V6 Accord engine would be rated at 250 hp and the 4 cylinder would be rated at 170 hp. [that was the plan]

Craig!! :)

can't wait for pricing to be released.

This model has become alot more competitive now with it's larger size (more seat
for rear passengers) as well as adequate horsepower (2L 155hp SAE)

It will be a tough choice between this and a Jetta.
Viva el coche!

If there is a CSX-S, it would be a good compeititor to GLI Jetta.

Obviously there are no words on that yet, but can you really see a CSX Type S coming? We all know there is zero difficulty from a technical point of view. Can you imagine a 200hp CSX 4-door sedan though?

Yes, I can. Sorta like a 4-door Civic Type-R. 8)

LOL! When I say "Can you imagine...", I really mean, do you expect Acura to give us a Type S somewhere down the line? I personally don't think that day will come any time soon because such a move would only cannibalize RSX sales. Perhaps they'll do it really late in the model cycle to revitalize sales, but that won't come for a good 4 or 5 years.

I think you can already count on the RSX sales being crunched by the Civic Si. So on that, yes, I expect it would be reasonable for them to come up with an Acura that will try to make back those numbers....CSX Type S (or whatever they want to call it). I wouldn't expect anything before 07-08 though.

RSX is at the end of life cycle and it has an uncertain future, so why Acura can't make a CSX-S? ??? ???

Why would a sedan cannibalize a coupe?  I can't fit my 12-year-old in the back of an RSX, and I gave up on the CSX being anything other than a "Civic with Leather" (15 extra ponies--woohoo!! :banghead: ) , so I bought a Saab 9-2X Aero instead.  With the GM discounts, it was cheaper than the RSX-S.

Honda/Canada should be busy worrying about its external competition, not "cannibalization".  So what if they make a $29K sale (guessed-at price of a "CSX-S" if it existed) instead of a $32K sale (RSX-S).  Sure beats $0.

By all indications, the CSX, even if there were a Type S, will be priced lower than the RSX. If the CSX has a similar, or even somewhat weaker, performance, but has the price and practicality advantage, I'm sure some consumers considering the RSX would pick the CSX (Type S) instead. It certainly won't be everybody because some shoppers will want the coupe / 2-door configuration. But there will certainly be a bunch that flock to the CSX instead of the RSX, and I am betting that number would be sufficiently large to hurt the RSX sales.

Like I said, a $29K sale sure beats $0.  It takes 10 "cannibals" to outweigh the revenue and profit impact of one of me, who walks from a brand altogether because it doesn't meet his needs.  I still like Honda, and would like to see an A3 / 1-series / 9-2X competitor from them, but life is too short to wait.

TSX is a replacement of Integra sedan, so why its so hard to accept CSX as a replacement for RSX? ::) ::)
