2006 Acura EL introduction until November?
« on: August 24, 2005, 02:20:38 pm »
Just read that the introduction of the new Acura EL will not be until November (Civic is in October)

Could anyone verify this?

Also, it seems like Dealers already have the info on the 2006 models (civics, accords) but can't release until Sep/1st?
Viva el coche!

From what I understand the new EL WILL NOT BE an "acurized" '06 Honda Civic.  I was told it will be a sedan version of the '07 RSX.  Avaliable to USA too.

I thought that they were going to do without the EL for a year until they introduce the 4-door "RSX" in 2007 as the new EL? Has that changed?

Ok... so information on the 06 civic will come out in September. But they're waiting until October to bring it over? Those fiends... Diabolical!!

From what I understand, there will be a firesale of 2005 ELs late this year.  No 2006 EL.  Late 2006 we will get a 2007 4 door RSX.

but Honda could change it's mind.

So does that mean the next EL will come from Japan instead of Canada, since its based on RSX?

This is confusing, VTEC.net says that it should be released Nov/2005, a month after the Civic's release.

You guys say next year due to the model change, which is very possible since Honda did trademark the name CSX and I've heard that Acura wants to differentiate the EL from the Civic (thus the CSX based off the RSX)

Due to the lack of information out there, I expect that it will be a 2007 release for the new EL/CSX :-(

Hopefully once September rolls around (another week), Hondasalesguy will be able to provide us with more details ;)

EL has always come out quite a bit later, and haven't seen any photos of those yet, so I suspect some delay of at least a few months.

The EL moniker is being buried.

There is a new entry level car, but more upscale, release date for dealers is Nov./2005.

Some models will have navi, HID's, leather, 16 or 17" alloys, and more power 170-180HP.

Kmak, where did you happen to get your info from?

Mine is filtered from Acura Canada.

Apparently, the new "EL" will be called the CXS, and will be the European Civic 5dr hatch, which North American Honda will not get...  So the CXS and the new North American Civic will be two completely different cars...

I doubt it would be CXS. Buick has that as a model for the Allure!

CSX sounds sporty enough, and goes the the 'X' at the end of the others.

CXS is a TRIM level name for the LaCrosse, not a model name...

How many cars have "GT" for a trim level for a model...

Model names are different than trim level names...

Oops... I meant CSX...  I can't believe I wrote CXS... My mistake...

The CSX rumours I've heard make sense, with the new A3, B-Class, etc...

Ah, not questioning the rumours you heard.  Indeed that does sound like a sensible way to go... and with as good as the new Civic (n.amer mkt) appears, I'm eager to see the new CSX too.
