If you're talking about the Mazda 5, then yes, the 3rd row can be fold down completely as well as the second row, but not like Sienna's under the platform. And no, you can't remove them completely.

No I haven't had a chance yet... I will do that soon enough. I don't remember, can you fold down completely the 3rd row seats? Or remove them completely? I really have to go check it out for myself... That and the Tribeca... It 'intrigues' me...  :)

See, if I bought a vehicle like the Mazda5, I would most likely want to either remove the 3rd row seats completely, or fold them flat INTO the floor and out of the way... That's why I say I don't really like the seat dispositions of the Mazda5...

Talking about seats, have you see the little demonstration of how versatile the B-Class is? It's amazing! You can fold down the rear passenger seats so that it forms a flat bed with the cargo area, OR you can remove completely the rear passenger seats, along with the floating cargo floor so that your whole cargo area is about 1.5 feet deeper... you can also remove the front passenger seat completely. I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE having that kind of cargo flexibility with my car.

The B-Class is looking more and more interesting the more I read about it. Reasonable prices, strong engines, well equipped, great passenger and cargo space... major concerns about reliability, especially its automatic CVT transmission... we'll see in 2-3 years if reliability is good. I would really like to see a diesel option too though...

Maybe in 2-3 years, when reliability is somewhat proven and if I find a good used deal, it would be a great vehicle to buy... we'll see...  :)

Its better to lease than cash purchase for B-Class given Mercedes's attractive lease rates and residual value.

Not when you do close to 30,000km a year...  :-\

So MB's residual value is high or low?

Traditionally high. The lowest residual for Mercedes for 3 year leasing is 63%.

The rates will increase in November for all Mercedes to 8.9%. B-Class's residual seems to be lower than Mercedes standard, maybe because Mercedes Canada doesn't know the future holds for this model.

8.9% !?!?  that's crazy, but I guess it doesn't matter to MB since most of their customers
actually purchase their vehicles out right (there was a report about this earlier on the year)

"My" B200T would be $38,425.  Seems kinda steep for a FWD mini-mini-van.  However, it does have lots of safety features and is neat looking.  No way I'd touch the CVT, but the T comes with a six speed!

Are those MB 6-speed manual tranny any good though? I remember reading all kinds of auto reviews that complain about the rubbery and vauge manual transmissions in the C-class a few years ago.

I drove a 2001 6-speed at it wasn't great.  Okay, but just barely.  I drove a 2005 a few months back, and what a change!  Positive, smooth and very nice to use.  If the B-Class' unit feels even close to the C-Class', it would be the way to go...

I still would rather go to Autotronic CVT instead of 6-speed given latter's rubbery and numb, not to mention unprogressive clutch, in most Mercedes-Benzes.

man the options are expensive... and there are MANY things that shouldn't be options and come standard with the vehicle...

Things that should be included and not options:
- Automatic ambient lighting with illuminated vanity mirrors - $340
- Manually adjustable 4-way (tilt/telescoping) steering column - $235

Too expensive options:
- 10-way front seats with power height and recline - $1,590 - And that doesn't even included heated seats! You have to pay an extra $750 to have them heated!!
- harman/kardon® LOGIC7® digital surround sound system - $1,490 - That's a bit too much I think.
- Continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) - $1,980 - That's stretching it a bit... usually, the automatic transmission extra cost is what, $1,000 or $1,200? Close to $2,000 is a tad much IMO.
- Panorama louvred glass sunroof - $1,960 - A bit too much again...
- Bi-Xenon headlamps with active curve illumination system - $1,960 - Isn't this a $6-700 option on some other brands? They are active headlamps, but still...

Why the heck didn't they include the tilt/telescopic steering column as a standard feature? Can someone explain that one to me please? The rest, well I guess they're just more expensive than I would have expected, but hey, it's a Mercedes and they have to charge premium for those features because, well, it's a Mercedes...

There are some neat features that come standard though...
- Eight air bags
- ABS, Brake Assist and ESP
- Automatic climate control
- Power windows with one-touch express-up/down
- Electronic cruise control
- Tire puncture warning system
- SmartKey system

Those are all in the base B model...

So it's a toss up... there are some features that should be standard IMO, but there are also a lot of standard features that you wouldn't necessarily expect out of a $30,000 vehicle, let alone a $30,000 Mercedes vehicle...

Btw, the B200T equiped like I would want it comes to around $43,000... that's quite an increase over its $35,000 base price. At $43,000, I think I'd look elsewhere...

$1960 is the price for Bi-Xenon, even for the $100K S430 it's still not standard, but they charge only $1230 for it. I think BMW charge about the same, or ~$1500.

The residual value for both B200 and B200 Turbo are 63% after 3 years, similar to C230. Very impressive! 8)

Spotted new B-Series on a delivery truck in my area yesterday. They look way bigger in person than on photos!

Xenon lights are now standard on BMWs except possibly the new 323.

What's the difference between Xenon lights and Bi-Xenon lights? And the Bi-Xenon lights available for the B-Class are active ones, meaning that they move around when you turn so you see the road better at all times. I doubt the BMWs come standard with a feature like that...
